Safety and Security Manager - Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky

Safety and Security Manager is responsible for the administration of the Airline Ground Handling (AGH) division of the Safety Management System (SMS) program and functions as the Chairman of the AGH Safety Committee. This position monitors safety issues, provides safety education, investigates incidents and accidents, acts as a resident expert on safety matters, helps to develop loss control standards, and makes recommendations to improve safety in the workplace.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for the Safety Management System (SMS) program and for overall safety at AGH operations.
  • Ensures the safety program elements are carried out.
  • Review and analyze all hazards; present feedback to management. Makes recommendations to mitigate identified safety issues.
  • Manage implementation of corrective and preventative actions as needed or required.
  • Monitors compliance with applicable regulatory safety standards.
  • Proactively research hazards for possible solutions or industry lessons learned.
  • Monitors trends in safety management system including accident and incident reports.
  • Provides regular reports to management on program status and compliance.
  • Assume Administrative Rights for Web based aviation safety management software program. Enroll (manage) personnel as required.
  • Disburse program changes.
  • Routinely travel to AGH stations to promote safety and security.
  • Manage company safety key performance indicators.
  • Conduct or distribute the internal evaluation audit (IEP). Review IEP audits for any corrective action or possible trends developing.
  • Work with subject matter experts to perform risk analysis and address the root cause, develop corrective actions, and any implementation or follow up auditing necessary.
  • Review reported issues in performance, evaluate with management, and direct required action as advised.
  • Conduct safety incident investigations in junction with station management.
  • Manage and conduct safety audits as required.
  • Develop and publish educational safety material to all AGH stations.

Responsible for the role of AGH Emergency Operations Coordinator

The Emergency Response Plan (ERP) requires meetings, training and ongoing oversight to ensure preparedness and current supplies.

  • Responsible for the role of AGH Emergency Operations Coordinator for the ERP.
  • Keep records of committee meetings (minutes) so that activity can be followed up and management kept informed of progress.
  • Communicates safety issues to all within the AGH operations.
  • Makes recommendations to correct/prevent identified safety issues to mitigate the risk as part of loss control standards.
  • Acts as liaison with safety organizations (formal and informal) on matters of industry safety concerns.
  • Participate in all external safety audits. Address corrective actions as necessary.
  • Attend airport safety meetings as required.
  • Conduct "SMS Induction" for new employees (only).
  • Conduct employee (safety) meetings to promote safety.

EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree in an Aviation related field or in a business field is preferred but not required.
