Sr. Employee Relations Specialist


About the Team

DoorDash is growing fast and we’re looking for an Employee Relations Specialist to join our People team! At DoorDash, people are our most important asset. The People team works closely with leaders across our business to align people and strategy. The HR Business Partners and ER team assess, coach and influence the business as we scale and evolve to enable our teams to accomplish amazing things.

About the Role

You will not only focus on reactive support (i.e. investigations, conflict management), but also help us build foundational educational and proactive support infrastructure as we scale. More specifically, you are a strategic, innovative, and thoughtful partner, with great judgment and a strong ability to navigate tricky situations. You will collaborate with the rest of the People team to develop and execute innovative programs that will be a catalyst to our high-performance culture.

You’re excited about this opportunity because you will…

  • Conduct investigations into employee concerns of harassment, discrimination, retaliation and other serious policy violations both independently and under the direction of the ER Senior Manager.
  • Maintain accurate, detailed, and timely documentation of investigations to ensure quality employee relations records and metrics.
  • Support and coach employees utilizing best in class conflict management.
  • Utilize a strong understanding of company policy and employment laws to provide recommendations to business leaders and HRBPs in partnership with the ER Senior Manager and legal counsel. 
  • Engage as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert to coach employees and managers on sensitive work-related issues.
  • Develop and execute employee relations efforts. This will include planning and coaching executives and managers on best practices.
  • Work on cross-functional, detailed, and time sensitive projects with HRBP, Security, Legal, and Benefits teams. 
  • Manage employee concerns escalated from DoorDash’s Ethics and Compliance Hotline.
  • Prioritize between longer-term proactive projects and real-time issue resolution.

  • You have a Bachelor’s degree and 7 - 10 years of HR experience with at least 5 of those being specific employee relations experience (i.e. conducting investigations into EEO concerns).
  • You have experience working in a fast-paced, high-performance culture where the business is constantly evolving, including experience working with employees of a call center.
  • You have a deep knowledge of Arizona employment law.
  • You have previous experience working with legal counsel/HRBPs to comply with HR policies and federal and state employment laws.
  • PHR or SPHR certifications are a plus.
  • Knowledge of California employment laws is a plus as well as legal experience.
