Overview

The Packaging Designer is responsible for conceptualizing and designing attention- grabbing packaging materials, using design elements such as shape, color, graphics and typography to create packaging that is functional and appealing to customers. In addition, this position is
responsible for the design and delivery of all packaging and instructions in both digital and print formats.

Responsibilities

1. Follow industry best practices to ensure packaging meets the needs of specific product
categories and end-user
expectations while adhering to established company branding guidelines.
2. Assist with new packaging requests from the product management and marketing teams for various
new product launches.
3. Create instructional layouts that are easily interpreted by end users.
4. Mock up product displays for our retailers in advance of production in order to provide a visual
representation of the final product.
5. Collaborate with the packaging engineering team to determine the best packaging structure and
make recommendations to product management and marketing teams.
6. Review printer proofs of packaging and provide press approvals for finished products.
7. Upload artwork files to a file management software for accuracy and department approvals.
8. Maintain accurate representation of information on all pieces of packaging and instructions.
9. Perform other duties as required within the nature and level of work.

Qualifications

Bachelors degree in graphic design and three (3) years of experience in designing product packaging and instructions for new and existing products are required. Knowledge of Adobe InDesign with the use of style sheets and master pages is required. Knowledge of fit, form, and function of packaging (die lines) and an understanding of available space for packaging on the shelf is required.Must be able to multitask, manage shifting priorities, and work independently to completion of tasks and deadlines. Must have planning and organizational skills. Ability to demonstrate a collaborative approach to achieving business results and working across internal teams.

Occasionally required to stand, walk or sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with
hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must
occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close
vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
