Neighborhood Sushi is looking for a Sous Chef & Culinary Manager! 

McGuire Moorman Lambert Hospitality is an Austin, Texas based hospitality and lifestyle-group that designs and operates award-winning restaurants, which was founded in 2006 by partners, restauranteurs, and chefs Larry McGuire and Tom Moorman. Located on Austin’s vibrant South Congress Ave., Neighborhood Sushi serves Japanese-inspired dishes in a casual & beautiful setting.

Neighborhood Sushi provides guests an approachable sushi experience with influences of Texas flavors, Japanese design and Austin hospitality. Fresh & light soups, salads and small plates follow traditional sushi bar inspirations. Enjoy a selection of crispy seafood and local vegetable tempura with a Hitachino on draft out back on the Congress facing Sake Garden.

Nigiri in classic cuts of Japanese Red Snapper, Sea Bream and Santa Barbara Uni are complemented by vegetarian preparations of Texas Sweet Corn topped with togarashi & serrano, and specialty bites like the Kushi Oyster with mignonette pickle. Rolls and hand rolls round out the menu with original arrangements of Grilled Enoki Mushrooms with yuzu kosho and Tempura Shrimp with coconut macadamia and purple shiso.


We are looking for passionate culinary talent to join our team! This is a management position that will help oversee the day-to-day operations of Neighborhood Sushi.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Oversee and manage food costs, BOH labor and operating costs and oversee P&L and budgeting
  • Menu development - rollout menu changes to the restaurants, including costing, pricing and training
  • Establish best practices for cost controls and inventory
  • Work with our Director of Events to continue to grow and execute off-site catering
  • Recruit, hire and retain BOH employees
  • Develop staff, ongoing education and training
  • Establish and maintain vendor relationships
  • Oversee kitchen safety and health compliance, audits and inspections
  • Maintain complete knowledge of and compliance with all company policies/service procedures/standards.

Chef Requirements:

  • 2+ years experience in a culinary management role
  • Certificate or degree in Culinary Arts preferred
  • Financial and computer skills; has experience working with and an understanding of P&L’s and budgeting
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays in addition to normal business hours, as needed
  • Superior knowledge of back of house administrative duties
  • Interest in teaching and mentoring kitchen employees 
  • Strong organization, communication and supervisory skills
