Team Lead


Support people with disabilities within the consumer’s own home, both by example and as outlined in each individual’s Person Centered Plan. Creates positive and supportive teamwork atmosphere within the site, where all members contribute and are valued. Provides leadership to the team and to individual staff, providing support and direction to staff. Leads and promotes the smooth operation of the consumer’s home, safe environment, staff-related issues. Identifies opportunities for improvement and actively participates in their implementation. Meets or exceeds program quality standards and identifies and acts on areas for improvement. Coordinates and communicates with the support team to maintain, promote and monitor individuals’ health and wellness. Supports culturally competent recovery-based practices and person centered planning as a shared decision making process.


 High School diploma or GED.
 CMH/DMH training preferred.

 Minimum of one (1) year previous experience working with consumers.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
 Demonstrated ability to communicate in a positive and supportive manner and to work effectively with staff, consumers and all stakeholders.
 Demonstrated experience in tracking details and managing multiple tasks and priorities.
 The ability to work flexible hours, short notice and at different work sites.

 Minimum of 18 years of age.
 Three references deemed acceptable to Spectrum
 Character of high moral standards as stated in agency policy.
 Current valid driver’s license.
 Completion of the personnel hiring requirements specified in the Conditional Job Offer at the time of hire.


Teach Direct Support Staff how to support people with disabilities, including specific needs of individuals.
Participates in individuals’ Person Center Planning.

Leads the staff in implementing the plans and recommending necessary changes to the plans.
Provides direct support to individuals in order to role model for staff and as needed.
In all interactions, communicates with others in a clear, effective and respectful manner.
Leads the team through daily interactions, and promotion of the mission.
Supports individual staff to improve their skills.
Creates a cohesive home/team environment that is supportive and recognizes the contributions of all members.
Provides and schedules training for all staff to ensure that all staff are fully competent in all areas of responsibility.
Assist the Quality Coordinator/Program Manager in recommending staff for positions within the program.
Follows agency policies and applicable laws regarding all personnel related issues.
Communicates procedures and policies to staff. Conducts work within these guides.
Ensures that documentation of supports is provided (medications, health care, activities, skill building programs, financial, etc.).
Operates program within budget parameters.
Arranges maintenance of home and vehicle, (if assigned) ensuring they are safe, clean and inviting.
Provides for smooth operation of the program/service through effective scheduling, routines and communication.
Provides transportation in a safe manner in either own car or agency vehicle.
Reviews documentation in areas related to medication and healthcare, reporting needs to appropriate individuals.
Prepare and complete staff schedules, payroll and pettycash.

Provides complete, accurate and timely documentation.
Completes all required reports timely.
Completes all other duties as assigned by Administration.
Participates in development of Continuous Quality Improvement plans.

Makes the plans part of how work is done every day.

Communicates plans to staff and others, promoting their goals.

Actively participates in staff and team meetings and in all trainings.

Monitor program outcomes, to see if program is meeting/exceeding guidelines.
Manages program in manner that meets or exceeds expectation of stakeholders, accreditation and regulatory bodies (such as CARF, CMH, and Medicaid).
