Accounting Specialist

Excellent opportunity for a new Accounting college graduate looking to learn the breadth of manufacturing functions while making a difference in building Accounting skills.

Summary

As part of the Finance and Accounting team, and under moderate supervision, responsible for the company's accounts payable, expenses, audits monthly close duties and other basic accounting support functions. Compile, examine, and disseminate reports. Collaborate with, and respond accurately and timely to information requests from, team members across the company. Identify and implement process efficiencies. Complete other accounting projects and activities that build career knowledge and contribution.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for accounts payable, expense payments, and other basic accounting functions ensuring timely and accurate payment processing.
  • Learn back-up accounts receivable and purchase order / invoicing procedures.
  • Prepare and review timely and accurate transactions and ad hoc reports
  • Complete standard accounting transactions and internal reporting including but not limited to account and balance sheet reconciliations, general ledger maintenance, foreign currency transactions, month end closing, audits, expenses, and taxes.
  • Recommend and implement process improvements, especially with management reporting and report standardization.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, financial policies, and internal controls.
  • Work cross functionally with departments to aid in expense classification, analytics, and reporting.
  • Maintain extremely well-organized work efficiency and robust understanding of ERP system.
  • Collaborate to learn the business and enhance financial fact-based decision making across the organization.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance ideal, plus internship or 1 year of basic Accounting experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally food processing.
  • High ethical standards and values upholding business integrity, objectivity, and confidentiality, including GAAP compliance.
  • Excellent MS Office and data visualization tools, PowerBI ideal. ERP skills required; Microsoft Dynamics preferred.
  • Ability to apply, interpret, and communicate clearly (written and verbal) accounting and basic financial concepts.
  • Results focused with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment by using excellent project and time-management skills.
  • Outstanding organizational skills, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrates qualities of a future leader including but not limited it: critical thinking, hands-on problem solver, confident decision-making, agile, self-motivated, positive, collaborative team player, open mindedness to learn from others.
  • Willing to assist and support the finance and accounting team with all functions, including routine administrative duties when necessary.
  • Spanish fluency ideal but not required.
  • Must be able to work onsite at our Waukesha, WI location.
