Position Summary:

The Patient Food Service Representative is responsible for the clerical processing of all diet orders, nourishment orders, diet instructions, consults, menu distribution and pick up, and assisting patients with menu selections. Adheres to National Patient Safety Goals as appropriate based on the level of patient contact this position requires.

Essential Functions:

The Patient Food Service Representative responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

* Assembles and modifies patient menus according to diet orders and nutritional profiles prior to distribution

* Checks final menu and updates prior to meal, tallies menu items, processes all computer diet order requests within 5 minutes of receipt, and processes patient charges/credits

* Answers telephones, transcribes messages, and processes information upon receipt


The Patient Food Service Representative reports to Manager, Food & Clinical Nutrition.

VII. Required Competency Test(s)



* 6 months patient food and nutrition service experience

* 6 months computerized data entry and/or keyboarding experience

* Typing 20 wpm

* Must be able to effectively communicate in English
