Restaurant Manager

Manages the staff and operations of the City's West Woods Golf Club Restaurant.  Manages the restaurant's revenue, profitability, quality and service goals, ensures efficient restaurant operations and a high level of customer satisfaction.

Job Functions / Scope of Authority


  • Supervises daily operations and directs staff in their daily responsibilities.

  • Maintains proper levels of service and quality to ensure efficiency and high guest satisfaction.

  • Hires and trains staff on restaurant standard operating procedures, customer service level expectations, and departmental and City policies.  

  • Implements and manages restaurant policies and procedures and ensures that all staff and operations are compliant with local, state, and federal laws, and that customer's needs are promptly met.

  • Monitors and adjusts staffing schedules to sustain high levels of service, especially during peak hours.

  • Maintains all applicable licenses. Ensures all alcohol handling and food safety procedures and are strictly adhered to according to regulations.  

  • Works closely with management team to meet revenue objectives.

  • Manages the restaurant's brand and image through consistent auditing of service levels, food quality, and customer satisfaction.   Implements appropriate strategies, policies or practices to resolve any adverse trends, increase customer satisfaction and improve sales.

  • Maintains a safe work environment and working conditions for staff.

  • Maintains sanitation procedures and organization of work area adhering to government regulations.

  • Oversees all food and liquor stocking, inventory, and distribution. Audits inventory levels to ensure product availability and orders products as necessary. Orders, stocks, and maintains linens, tableware, and equipment.

  • Maintains and supervises beverage concession carts and oversees staff, monies, and product.

  • Collaborates cooperatively with sales staff on events and activities. Plans events and schedules staff appropriately.  Oversees staff in set up/tear down of event to ensure timeliness and accuracy.  Maintains proper levels of service and quality to ensure efficiency and high guest satisfaction.

  • Financial responsibilities: Follows company policies and procedures regarding handling of cash, property, products and equipment. Collects and accounts for daily revenue to ensure cash is deposited correctly.  Issues monies for bars, concessions, and petty cash, including reconciliation of all monies. Assists in developing operational budget, and annual marketing plan. Provides accurate and timely accounting of expenses and revenues. Monitors all costs of food, beverage, and liquor.  Provides accountant with information to expedite billing process.  Maintains required budgeted line items, including expenses and revenues. Tracks daily labor costs to monitor and control labor. Enters and reviews payroll reports.

  • Attends weekly meetings with sales staff, chef, food services manager, and accountant to update event orders and receive new information.

  • Attends weekly meeting with pro-shop staff and maintenance to coordinate and exchange information for weekly activities.

  • Demonstrates a respectful attitude and maintains positive relationships with customers and staff that promotes effective customer service, teamwork, and open communication.

  • Acts with the customer in mind, responds to requests promptly and provides effective services or solutions for customers.

  • Exercises appropriate level of initiative and judgment to make decisions within the scope of assigned authority.



  • Expert knowledge and experience in all facets of food and beverage management, including supervision, inventory control, budget management, cash handling, and reconciliation.

  • Solid knowledge of municipal financial and budgeting systems.

  • Excellent computer skills to include restaurant management software, point-of-sales software, MS Office software products.

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate information, both verbally and in writing, to support organizational objectives and interact with customers and all levels of personnel within the city in a positive and cooperative manner.

  • Strong leadership skills and ability to effectively supervise, train, motivate and evaluate staff.  .

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks and monitor multiple events simultaneously.

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, holidays and weekends.  

  • Ability to be dependable and reliable.



  • Develops and/or participates in the development of staff work plans, measures and tracks progress towards goals, Prepares and conducts timely and constructive performance appraisals.

  • Schedules staff, assigns and supervises work, prioritizes programs and projects and effectively uses available resources to accomplish objectives.

  • Makes decisions or recommendations for hiring, promotions, transfers, disciplinary action, and other personnel actions as necessary.  

  • Coaches, counsels and supports staff to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.  Consistently educates and advises staff on organizational rules, regulations, policies and procedures.  Supports creative thinking and problem solving and encourages participatory decision making when appropriate.

  • Provides training and job enrichment opportunities and encourages professional growth and development.
