Acuity’s lighting and building management solutions vary from individual devices to intelligent network systems. Acuity Brands has operations throughout North America, and in Europe and Asia. Individual devices include lighting controls, lighting components, controllers for various building systems (including HVAC, lighting, shades and access control), power supplies, and prismatic skylights. Among other benefits, intelligent network systems can optimize energy efficiency and comfort as well as enhance the occupant experience for various indoor and outdoor applications, all the while reducing operating costs. The Marketing Specialist will drive customer preference and education through the development and coordination of our Canadian marketing program. This includes event planning, print and digital advertising, social media, and other awareness campaigns.  The Marketing Specialist will work with many cross functional teams from idea conception to launch.  This individual will need to be within a commutable distance to our Thornhill, ON location.  

How you will contribute:
  • Conceptualize, develop and launch key marketing programs.
  • Work with cross-functional teams including sales, web development, graphic design, and external partners completing marketing deliverables.
  • Lead the development of print, digital ads and collateral, alongside the graphics team, for new product launches, promotions and other industry-centric initiatives.
  • Organize events for partners and customers, including virtual and (eventually) in-person types. This involves assisting with the agenda, vendor selection, coordination of invites and RSVPs, hotel and transportation, restaurant reservations, catering, day of coordination, and event follow-up.
  • Drive the social media presence of the company on Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter, including posting product releases, events and sharing company news.
  • Help with the planning and execution of internal events and initiatives that promote culture and connection.
  • Support sales by coordinating customer incentive programs. This includes distributing program information, tracking results, and awarding prizes.
  • With the web design team, manage the upkeep of the Canadian website.
  • Administration tasks such as managing various Marketing budgets and payables, distribution list maintenance, promotional material orders and other ad hoc duties as assigned.
  • Travel expectations are estimated to be 5%.
  • Industry experience is considered an asset but not required.
Qualified Applicants will have:
  • Minimum 2-5 years of Marketing experience. 
  • Degree or diploma in Marketing or equivalent .
  • Experience with graphic design tools, including a software set such as Adobe Photoshop or Canva.
  • Experience with digital platforms such as Mailchimp, Hootsuite, Oktopost, SurveyMonkey, GoToWebinar (or similar) and the interest and ability to learn new programs that will help to drive the company’s digital efforts.
  • Event planning knowledge, for both virtual and in-person events. This includes the planning, execution, and follow-up stages.
  • Ability to follow up and manage multiple projects while prioritizing varying deadlines at once. The successful candidate will have strong organizational, time management and leadership skills and the ability to coordinate key deliverables with other functions.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, as well as a sense of curiosity and creativity.
  • Ability to be able to work both independently and as part of a team
