Eligibility Manager


The Eligibility Manager oversees the daily operations of the Program. This role ensures that the Medical Assistance Eligibility process and all other company services are delivered in a professional and focused manner ensuring the best possible outcomes for our client and their self-pay population. Responsibilities include

  • Reviewing productivity for quality assurance and adherence to program policy in an effort to provide optimal service to our clients.
  • Interviewing, hiring, training, mentoring and evaluating Eligibility staff.
  • Acts as the liaison between Clients and Eligibility Representatives to facilitate a seamless cooperative effort and provides training to support departments.
  • Prepares weekly and monthly reports to upper management for effective monitoring of staff.
  • Must be able to partner with the hospital and create relationships.


  • Look at medical records and make a determination whether a person is disabled and make a determination if they are qualified for disability
  • Ensures all employee reviews are completed timely.
  • Initiates necessary disciplinary action and reports to Regional Manager/Dir. Of Operations actions taken.
  • Keeps District Manager/Regional Operations Director informed of any problems regarding the client, staff, or other entities, which affect the success of the organization.
  • Reports to District Manager/Regional Operations Director on team accomplishments, achievements, and productivity
  • Is able to manage and motivate other team members to accomplish tasks and goals.
  • Ensures that assigned staff are performing their job functions according to the “Schedules and Methods of Work” set out by DECO.
  • Assists in the training of all new employees reporting to Program Manager
  • Ensures that all weekly and monthly reports are completed timely for the District
  • Manager/Regional Operations Director.
  • Assures that all client files are maintained and record statuses in the company database are accurate.
  • Interacts with patients, families, physicians, and caseworkers in order to obtain or determine the eligibility of the patient for Federal or State assistance.
  • Ensures primary focus is on optimizing revenue.
  • Develops and maintains an extensive knowledge base for County, Federal, and State-administered programs.
  • Develops and maintains a thorough knowledge and understanding of eligibility systems, their codes, and their relationships so those problems can be identified and resolved.
  • Ensures all accounts are documented and followed-up in accordance with the guidelines established in the company training manuals and included in the client hospital contract.
  • Ensures all agreed-upon guidelines established by the client hospital are met. Informs District Manager/Regional Operations Director of any potential problems in a timely manner.
  • Deliver efficient, high-quality services and work with a commitment to improving services work processes, and performance.


  • Thorough knowledge of government healthcare eligibility programs. Prior multi-entity management experience.
  • Some college and five-plus years of related experience and/or training
  • Accurate typing/data entry at a minimum of 30 wpm
  • Ability to use a PC effectively including various database programs.
  • Advanced interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
  • Thorough knowledge of the Medicaid application and appeals processes.
  • Ability to learn multiple state/federal/local program policies and procedures
  • Follow complex instructions and procedures, paying close attention to details.
