Group Product Manager, Scanners

Long Description

Principal Accountabilities
In addition to the following Epson's policies and procedures, principle accountabilities include, but are not limited to:


  1. Contributes to strategic direction for the commercial and consumer scanner (document & photo) business and provides input into product market development and marketing plan strategies.
  2. Identifies new growth/business development ideas and provides recommendations and business care proposal.
  3. Defines, enhances channel focused programs to create appropriate incentive structures to grow sales.

Product Development

  1. Provides input into the development of product road maps for scanner HW and SW lines.
  2. Coordinates and more independently manages relationship with SEC to monitor product development process and makes recommendations for meeting market needs and negotiate tradeoffs.
  3. Conducts and analyzes market information and makes strategic recommendations and, in some cases, decisions (ie., pricing, positioning).

Product Management

  1. Responsible for achieving revenue and gross profit and inventory targets for assigned products.
  2. Establishes and oversees structured processes for a complete product launch for assigned product(s).
  3. Oversees relationships with Marketing, Communications, Documentation, Service/Support, Logistics, SEC, and other groups to manage the product throughout its lifecycle.
  4. Makes and substantiates recommendations regarding positioning and pricing of assigned product(s).
  5. Identifies opportunities and provides direction to Marcom and Advertising related to execution of key advertising and promotions tactics for assigned product(s).
  6. Oversees end of product lifecycle and transition to minimize inventory and ensure launch time frames are met.
  7. Serves as internal and external PR spokesperson and product champion for assigned product(s).
  8. Supports the company at events, including sales meetings and trade shows.
  9. Supports the sales team in customer visits and presentations.
  10. Oversees or conducts competitive analysis and benchmarking, makes recommendations and, in some cases, decisions.
  11. Initiates and maintains relationships with industry trade groups, analysts, and publications.

Relationship Management 

1.  Works closely with Sales team and channel partners to drive the business.
2.  Responsible for hiring, motivating, evaluating, developing group/department personnel.
3.  Provides coaching and mentoring to team members.
4.  Advises management and provides recommendations on personnel and problem issues (that require escalation).
5.  Builds strong relationships with peers and Senior Managers to best meet company goals and objectives.
6.  Manages and leverages relationships with vendors for a specific product/service (best price, best product, etc).
7. Maintains professional relationships with peers in other corporations and outside organizations.

Department Management

1.  Manages departmental budget and operates within budgetary constraints. Participates in the development of annual budget forecasts; participates in updating and reconciling operating and budget plans as required.
2.  Develops and maintains written departmental standards and procedures.
3.  Directly contributes to development of tactical and annual operating plans, defining goals and objectives for the group.

Minimum Experience Requirements D - Requires specialist experience at more advance level (8-12 yrs.)
