JOB SUMMARY:

Assist in all purchasing functions, buy commodities/MRO as required, expedite material, process material requests while considering cost effectiveness, quality and urgency. Additional responsibilities might include analysis of market trends, the selection of suppliers and the expedition of shipments and deliveries.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Other duties may be assigned)

  • Purchase parts daily
  • Ensure material maintained at a safe level.
  • Review daily reports (zero stock, items below re-order, soon to be zero)
  • Vendor interface.
  • Participate in daily meetings to see what material is “hot” for production; physically expedite “hot” material.
  • Process rejections, if any, from Q.C. Department to appropriate vendor.
  • Adjust discrepancies by phone, computer, and at times physically.
  • Adjust invoices when quantities are not matching receiving parts, and make necessary changes to fix price discrepancies.
  • Contact different companies and send out drawings for quoting new and existing parts that are being created.
  • Generate document, files and charts using Microsoft office, Word, Excel and network AS400. Use computer with various programs.
  • Interface with department’s supervisors, engineers, and other personnel at all levels.
  • Monthly activity and yearly cost savings reporting.
  • Duties include but not limited to the above.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education:

Associate’s degree (AA) or equivalent from two years college

Experience:

Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Buyer in related field

Warehouse experience a plus.

Material Control Experience is a plus.

Consignment Experience is a plus.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Recommended one Professional Certification such as APICS, CPM, CPIM, CPP, and CPSM.

Computer Skills:

Strong computer knowledge/proficiency (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MRP)

Mathematical Abilities:

 

Analytical or Reasoning Abilities:

Detail oriented and strong organizational skills; solid analytical ability.

Communication Skills: (Writing, Foreign Language, Reasoning)

Excellent verbal and communication skills.

Other Skills (Technical, or Other special knowledge and abilities)

Knowledge of the AS400, proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, and outlook

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:  

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, sit, stand, and view computer monitor for prolonged periods of time.
  • The ability to reach with arms and hands; stoop, kneel crouch or crawl.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

•             The incumbent typically works in an office environment and uses a computer, telephone and other office equipment as needed to perform duties. The noise level in the work environment is typical of that of an office. Incumbent may encounter frequent interruptions throughout the work day.

•             The employee is regularly required to sit, talk, or hear; frequently required to use repetitive hand motion, handle or feel, and to stand, walk, reach, bend or lift up to 20 pounds.
