Requisition Summary

The Truck Service Engineer works within the PACCAR Embedded Engineering organization improving performance and operation of in-use customer trucks by identifying issues, planning repair strategies, and communicating with customers and Field Service.  PACCAR Embedded Engineering is a rapidly expanding organization that is transforming the way software is created for commercial vehicle applications. You will collaborate with an international, cross-functional PACCAR team including Kenworth, Peterbilt and DAF Engineering, Field Service, Warranty, Manufacturing, PACCAR Parts, and the PACCAR Technical Center.  Individual creativity in addressing product challenges and opportunities is encouraged while working within a supportive team to develop superior solutions for the heavy duty truck industry.  Your work will positively improve the customer’s operation and their support of the product.

 

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Maintain a technical working knowledge of engine and emission systems.
  • Investigate engine and emission system defects using multiple data sources and provide engineering defect issue definitions.
  • Identify and communicate issues with customer chassis requiring service utilizing data analytics and Field Service input
  • Develop a repair strategy with the customer, Field Service and PACCAR Parts; travel may be required to develop relationships and communicate objectives to the customer.
  • Interface with dealerships and customers to speed repair and maintenance of the customer’s fleet.
  • Compile and submit reports to management, Engineering, Field Service and customers
  • Coordinate with Dealers, Field Service, Engineering and suppliers to identify new product improvement and training opportunities.

 

Qualifications and Skills 

  • BSME, BSEE required.
  • 4+ years industry-related experience.  
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Competency in the use of personal computer software including project management tools, word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
  • Willingness to learn and make use of new engineering processes and techniques.
  • Experience solving complex technical problems.
  • Demonstrated team player
  • Candidates should have a willingness to grow personally and professionally and a demonstrated ability to lead a small team to timely objectives.
