Abiomed, a rapidly growing medical device company, is looking for a passionate and experienced Cardiology Clinical Consultant. This role is key to Abiomed’s commercial business success will be responsible for demonstrating the value and impact of our Impella® product portfolio to physicians and hospital staff:

Responsibilities:

  • Provide excellence and thorough clinical expertise and onsite support for Impella implanting centers, including appropriate patient selection, pre-implant consideration, clinical support during the procedure, ICU/CCU support, patient management and best-practice consultation to facilitate procedural consistency and optimal outcomes
  • Manage customer training for new and existing accounts: Develop and manage training processes, including assessment and certification, to track required training and status of hospital members and distributor members who are engaged in patient care and support.
  • Visit all institutions where patients have been equipped with Impella products to collect usage information for Impella Quality database and document/communicate activities with other team members and sales counterpart.  
  • Responsible for Patient Growth and Patient Outcomes by establishing direct relationship and organizing structured appointments/meetings to keep the therapy top of mind.  
  • Educate and present to customers as an established expert in hemodynamic support, clinical data, program best practices, appropriate patient selections and cost-effectiveness value propositions in the local context.
  • Proactively develop and maintain comprehensive understanding of current literature, emerging science, technological developments and trends on relevant therapies and competitive products.

Job Qualifications:

  • Clinical or technical degree in critical/intensive care, perfusion, nursing required
  • Overall 5+ years of Direct patient support experience working in clinical setting such as cath lab, operating theatre, critical care and intensive care unit settings, industry experience is an advantage
  • Excellent teamwork and coordination, professionalism and discipline
  • Ability to travel nationally and internationally approximately 70% of the time
  • Ability to respond to inquiries and emergent support request 
  • Self-reliant; takes initiative; results-oriented; collaborative and boundaryless
  • Fluent in English with strong meeting facilitating and public speaking & teaching skills 
  • Conduct duties and responsibilities in accordance with laws and regulations governing the medical device industry required
