House Supervisor-RN

The primary purpose of this job position is the supervision of the daily nursing care provided to the residents of Fairmount’s healthcare facility. This supervision must be in accordance with the latest federal, state and local regulations and Fairmount’s policies. Supervises all healthcare personnel. Must be able to function as a charge nurse when needed. Is hired by and accountable to the Director of Nursing Services.

  1. Currently licensed as a registered nurse with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
  2. Current CPR certification.
  3. Complies with state and federal regulations.
  4. Follows Fairmount Homes’ policies and procedures.
  5. Knowledgeable of Scope of Practice
  6. Able to work throughout the facility.
  7. Communicates professionally with medical staff, nursing personnel, residents and families.
  8. Demonstrates critical problem-solving and appropriate independent decision-making abilities.
  9. Demonstrates good verbal and written communication skills in the English language.
  10. Able to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature without loss of efficiency.
  11. Able to communicate with others clearly and concisely. Able to identify task requirements and monitor progress toward accomplishment.
  12. Able to maintain relationships that facilitate task accomplishment, to cooperate and resolve conflicts, and to recognize needs and be sensitive to others.
  13. Interacts and works well with others and enjoys working with people.
  14. Has a sincere desire to work with older, disabled or handicapped adults.
  15. Maintains a positive attitude and actively promotes good communication with all staff on all shifts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Receives report of previous shift supervisor and gives same to following shift.

Makes rounds on assigned nursing units assessing acutely ill residents. Notifies staff of any unusual or additional care needs of those residents.

Determines staff/resident ratio and adjusts assignments as needed.

Responsible for managing scheduling needs such as call-offs ill employees, and emergencies.

Coordinates resident assessments, admissions, discharges, transfers, and deaths and other needs as they arise.

Maintains safety and infection control standards, following the rules and regulations of the state and federal regulatory agencies.

Monitors and directs staff in maintaining Fairmount Home's policies and procedures.

Follows through on all incident/accident reports for residents. Investigates incident/accident to determine cause and develop preventive interventions.

Provides for performance evaluations of all healthcare employees assigned to the nursing unit on his/her shift.

Assists Charge Nurses with emergency situations, admissions, discharges and transfers.

Follows Disaster/Emergency Plan.

Responds to emergency calls from campus.

Responsible for attending mandatory meetings.

Responsible for staying current with current nursing standards of practice.

Adheres to Corporate Compliance Plan.

Complies with HIPAA Privacy standards.

Performs other duties as required by facility needs.
