Associate Benefits Analyst

 

Research, analyze, evaluate and administer the Dart benefit plans and programs in a centralized Corporate Benefits setting in accordance with the policies, plan documents and related laws regarding benefits. This position will also manage and work with benefit plan providers, vendors, brokers, auditors and consultants regarding services, plan costs and administration.

Day-to-Day Role:

  • Oversee the administration of benefits eligibility, new employee orientation, benefit enrollment process and vendor database input, monthly audits of census reports and the administration oversight of COBRA
  • Assist with compliance of all benefit programs including medical program participants, dental and vision programs, flexible spending accounts, and group and voluntary insurance coverage
  • Enter benefit enrollments and updates into internal and external computer based system and audit monthly benefit census reports for all vendors
  • Consult with medical program participants with respect to individual benefit issues, concerns, and claims processing by providing timely, effective and accurate information, act as liaison between employees or retirees and third party administrators to help resolve specific issues
  • Audit and approve weekly benefit transmittal files to vendors/carriers
  • Audit monthly benefit census reports for all vendors and ensure proper monthly administration of flexible spending accounts
  • Analyze internal processes to identify opportunities for improvement in benefit administration process
  • Maintain regular meetings with call center leadership to ensure benefits processes are being followed accurately, brainstorm process efficiencies and assist with drafting/approving new procedures and knowledge documents for the HR call center staff
  • Assist with projects related to Benefits actions and carrier/vendor transitions
  • Run ad-hoc reports from the HRIS and analyze data for accuracy and best practices
  • Stay current with HIPAA, ERISA, Cafeteria Section 125 regulations, and Health Care Reform (including other state or federal laws that effect benefit eligibility) laws. 
  • Partner with information technology team to test benefit changes made in HRIS and identify inconsistencies/flaws before changes move to production system
  • Assist with organizing, auditing, and distribution of annual regulatory reporting requirements (1095 Forms, Form 5500)
  • Partner with Senior Benefits Analyst to pull data and respond to survey requests
  • Reconcile benefit invoices, identify/correct discrepancies in billing, and coordinate payment remittances to vendors
  • Answer all benefits-related inquiry escalations from HR call center

Core Skills and Qualifications:

The ideal candidate must possess all of the following:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • One (1) year of Benefits related administrative experience to include ERISA, HIPAA, Cafeteria Section 125, Health Care Reform Regulations, COBRA and/or FMLA
  • Working knowledge of Health and Welfare plans, medical billing and claims resolution
  • Ability to calculate, analyze, and interpret mathematical information such as percent differences, ratios, median, mean, weighted average, etc.
  • Knowledge of general accounting or finance and budgeting principles and procedures
  • Experience using Microsoft Office, including the ability to create basic reports, documents, presentations and spreadsheets in MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint
  • Ability to identify issues, compare data, investigate and resolve discrepancies
  • Demonstrate outstanding customer service and ability to work collaboratively within multiple teams
  • Set priorities, coordinate multiple projects, and meet critical deadlines
  • Excellent written communication skills demonstrating the ability to prepare outlines, reports, letters, and any other supplemental materials in a clear and concise manner 
  • Excellent verbal skills necessary in order to communicate benefit information to all levels of management and employees
  • Ability to commit to ongoing training and education in order to stay on top of changes to the laws
  • Ability to travel up to 5% of the time domestically
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license 
  • Requires a favorable motor vehicle report upon hire

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • One (1) year experience in Human Resources including Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) experience
  • Previous experience leading and mentoring others
  • CEBS, PHR or SPHR
