About Evansville State Hospital:

Evansville State Hospital is one of the Indiana State Psychiatric Hospitals who are committed to the mission of Hope and Recovery. Residing on 88 acres on the east side of Evansville, Ind., our facility provides medical treatment for chronic mental illness and substance abuse disorders from our dedicated team of psychiatrists and advanced practice professionals. Active Treatment helps our patients achieve their goals directed towards living in the most non-restrictive environment possible. Our team of professionals assist our patients in the treatment process involving medical staff, nursing, psychology, social work, rehabilitation therapy and our community integration program. Evansville State Hospital continues to maintain accreditation through The Joint Commission as an Inpatient Psychiatric Hospital as well as Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services certification as a Psychiatric Medicare/Medicaid Hospital.

About the Job:

The Maintenance Repairperson is responsible for ensuring that the buildings, its contents, the grounds, equipment and vehicles are maintained. The Maintenance Repairperson 2 serves under the guidance and direction of the Maintenance Supervisor. The Maintenance Repairperson provides a healthy, safe and secure environment as possible.

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this roles are as follows:

  • Carries out a wide variety of maintenance duties necesssary to ensure good condtion of interior and exterior of all buildings, its contents and equipment.

    · Carries out duties in plumbing, carpentry, painting, electrical and HVAC.

    · Carries out duties of special projects and completes them within time frames and guidelines.

    · Participates in on-call rotation schedule.

    · Assists with the maintenance of the grounds to ensure a good overall appearance and condition, i.e. mowing, trimming trees and shrubs.

    · Ensures timely and proper attention to repair of equipment, i.e. heating, Cooling, exhaust fans, kitchen equipment, ect.

    · Participates in routine inspection of physical environment. Ensures problems are corrected within time frames established.

    · Participates in fire and disaster drills as necessary.

    · Maintains vehicles as needed.

    · Shall keep their work area neat and orderly and tools in their proper locations.

    · Perform any other duties as instructed by the supervisor deemed necessary for the proper operation of the facility.

    · Comply with federal, state and local regulations pertaining to OSHA, Life Safety Codes and all current building codes and standards.

    · Follow federal, state and local regulations pertaining to OSHA, Life Safety Codes and all current building codes and standards.

    · Complete work orders and scheduled preventive maintenance within time frames established.

    · Maintain locks, cores, and keys as directed.

    · Participate in the on-call rotation with all of the other Maintenance Repairperson 2's.

    · Will perform other duties as assigned.

    · Uses technology for inputting electronic information.

What We're Looking For:

· Two (2) years’ work experience in building or maintenance trades or accredited vocational training in building trades, maintenance trades or related.

· Must have and maintain a valid Driver’s License.

· Must obtain CPR and CPI certification, demonstrate ability to perform techniques, and maintain certification throughout employment.

    · Ability to plan, initiate and properly execute projects and activities on own initiative.

    · Basic computer skills and the ability to learn department specific computer programs.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports: This role does not provide direct supervision to direct reports.
