About this role

What will you be responsible for?

Responsible for assisting with the overall design, implementation, and monitoring of Newmont’s Information Security program. Focuses on IT security compliance matters, alignment to vital processes and procedures, as well as evaluations of security practices of both internal Newmont operations and projects as well as hosted solutions.

Here is a snapshot of what your day to day will look like:

  • Assisting with Crafting both short and long term network security technology roadmaps that fit in line with Newmont’s business requirements and strategic objectivesCoordinating all day to day security operations; including firewall,IDS/IPS, VPN, Security event management, log management,infrastructure and desktop patching, etc
  • Assisting with the management of any consultants,vendors,or partners which may provide varying levels of support to Newmont’s Infrastructure Security solutionsPerform security reviews and ensure compliance on projects,statements of work,and contracts as required Work optimal with Internal Audit,IT Audit,and external Audit partners to ensure compliance and reporting of Newmont’s IT security infrastructureDevelop and deliver security related training,documentation, and processes across all levels of the organizationLeads projects in different regions following the standard project management methodology adopted by Newmont’s PMO.This will include managing local project resources,vendors and project budget(avg.$500k-$2m) to meet key project objectives.Assist in coordinate team schedule to ensure appropriate support coverage.
  • Ensures that the logical and physical network is performing as required and works with internal and external service providers to repair and restore service as needed.
  • Ensures the coordination,configuration and testing of infrastructure security equipment firmware upgrades.Maintain and review system logs and network performance.
  • Continually investigates and implements ways to improve the efficiency of the infrastructure security systems and partners.
  • Ensures that service providers are carrying out all aspects of contractual obligation for proactive and preventative maintenance of the IT Security infrastructure.Collaborates with the global infrastructure team in definition of security standards and is responsible for regional implementation and compliance.
  • Ensure that all changes to communication and infrastructure systems,whether directly or indirectly performed,enforce to Newmont standards and procedures,follow SOx-compliant processes,and are fully detailed.
  • Guide and participate in review of IT Communication and Infrastructure projects and,work with the partners,prepare the vital prioritization documents,including investigation of impact, compliance,cost,and benefits.
  • Assist in the preparation and submission of requests for quotes and capital submissions for all equipment required for providing communication services.
  • Responsible for the support of the region in network-related global infrastructure projects,including definition of regional requirements,input and validation to global designs,and oversight of regional technology implementations.
  • Tracks related IT issues,coordinates resolution and assists in driving issues to closure.Advances high severity issues and chronic problems to appropriate management.
  • Provides timely follow-through with customers and IT peers on IT service requests and tasks.Promote and enforce to Newmont’s methodologies,policies,procedures and standards.
  • Maintain a consistent high quality of work across all responsibilities.
  • Ensure that Newmont’s policies,standards,procedures and methodologies are adhered to.Insist on and maintain a consistent high quality of work across all supervised and allocated tasks.
  • Promote and enforce to Newmont Regional Occupational Health and Safety guidelines and procedures.Consistently demonstrate and encourage safe work practices.
  • Promote and align with Newmont goals and values.

Education:

University Degree or equivalent experience
  • Relevant industry certification(s) are highly desirable:
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
  • MCSE: Security
  • CCSP (Cisco)

Experience:

  • Significant relevant experience with security systems and technologies (8+ years)
  • Sound knowledge with network and server security such as Cisco and Checkpoint firewalls, Firemon, LogLogic, Lasso, IDS/IPS, Xceedium, Cisco AnyConnect VPN, Cisco ISE, Microsoft Server power shell, GPO, SCCM, etc.
  • Experience with penetration testing, vulnerability reviews, threat modeling, compliance reporting, policy reviews, etc.
  • Experience with management applications and protocols such as SNMP, Netflow, WireShark, Cisco Security Manager, etc.
  • Hands-on work experience with Cisco infrastructure, Network Design and protocols and Cisco catalyst switches, WCDMA & LMDS networks, GSM.
  • Experience in remote “exploration” environments (Mining, Oil/Gas, etc) preferred
  • Immense ability to demonstrate technical understanding of communications networks, such as protocols, network components, design elements and architecture.
  • Good mix of business, functional, and technical skills
  • Confirmed ability to discuss information security concepts and strategies in simple, clear terms to help drive and influence decision making of business and application owners
  • Broad knowledge of all technology considerations (performance, scalability, maintainability, deployment, operations, technology infrastructure)
  • Self motivated employee, with a pro-active and strategic vision of IT
  • Ability to effectively plan and control projects
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with vendors, subordinates, colleagues, clients and customers at all levels
  • Has an overall understanding of the objectives and functions of the company, business units and departments serviced by IT
  • Self guided leader, with a pro-active and strategic vision of IT service delivery
  • Poses strong IT knowledge and understanding with deep skills in IT operations, customer relationship management and outsourcing vendor relationship management
  • Cost and budget control.
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project) and Visio.
