As a Principal System/Software Architect in 3DXP Next Generation System Architecture and Performance Modeling Group at Micron Semiconductor Products, Inc., you will work with the memory industry's leading architecture team on new concepts that will shape the future of electronic systems.  


Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:


Delivering architectures, white papers, and IP for novel designs and existing paradigms.  Work with customers, other architects, and design teams to identify the issues and requirements for a wide range of applications and deliver innovating solutions.  Performing open- and closed-loop system performance analysis of new advanced architectures in comparison with existing paradigms.  These activities will entail choosing the appropriate simulation tools/environment; analyzing OS behaviors and the software/hardware integration; constructing or modifying component models including memory devices, controllers, , and processors; verification, generating or acquiring relevant workloads; and constructing performance monitoring. The scope will span from block-level to full system-level architecture development and modeling, analysis and benchmarking.  Candidates should have strong knowledge of architecture development including successful industry experience with architecting complex server systems including low-level software stack, memory and storage solutions caches, etc. while working in a collaborative environment.  The successful applicant will be responsible for creating innovative solutions, modeling, and analyzing them to demonstrate their benefits and tradeoffs.


Academic Discipline(s):                Electrical, Computer, or Electronics Engineering;

Experience Required:                    minimum 10 years industry experience


Successful candidate for this position will have:


  • Must have experience delivering system-level architectures from low-level/OS software down to memory/storage devices in server systems.
  • Strong Exposure to operating system (OS) memory management and virtual machine (VM) performance analysis
  • Strong exposure to computer architecture analysis and design tradeoffs.
  • Strong working knowledge of architecture tradeoff analysis and modeling tools, commercial and in-house.
  • C/C++ and SystemC experience; Python experience is a plus.
  • Must have an understanding of how to use the C++ Standard Template Library (STL).
  • Exposure to software development practices.
  • Exposure to HDL development flows and processes.
  • A strong knowledge through academic coursework or experience in DRAM, as well as other memory types is preferred.
  • Ability to quickly react and adapt to changes based on modeling results, or project direction changes.
  • Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent verbal communication and written skills.
  • Must be highly organized and self-motivated.
  • Must be a strong individual contributor as well as a team player.
