NPI Sourcing Manager

Job Purpose

The NPI Sourcing organization at EnerSys is responsible for the assistance in sourcing and purchasing activities for New Product Introduction. The NPI Sourcing Manager will report to the Director of NPI Sourcing and will lead the NPI sourcing activities for assigned projects. The manager is responsible for ensuring timely deliveries for internal customers and NPI project deliverables. Works closely with Category Managers to align activities to the commodity specific strategic strategy. Implements Supply Chain Management strategy to drive commercial leverage, achieve lowest total costs, ensure effective asset management, continuously improve quality, delivery, and cycle time performance, and ensure supplier involvement in product development.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Act as the sourcing representative in all NPI project meetings for assigned projects
  • Provide regular updates on assigned projects to the Director of NPI Sourcing
  • Analyze/provide initial cost estimates for assigned projects (capital and components)
  • Complete NPI risk assessment for suppliers, new technology, sole sourced parts, EOL (end of life) components, and other
  • Negotiate tooling agreements and ensure suppliers provide best pricing and delivery schedules
  • Facilitate orders for tooling, services and prototype parts
  • Manage tooling schedules and expedite as needed with suppliers to support the project timeline
  • Coordinate tooling modifications between engineering and suppliers
  • Proactively drive costs out of the project and identify cost risks (both for development and after release to production)
  • Facilitate orders for all components needed to complete A-sample and B-sample builds
  • Review and process part change notices
  • Build and maintain supplier relationships and drive improvement in the areas of cost, risk, and quality
  • If new suppliers are needed, align with Engineering, Commodity Management and other stakeholders to locate quality suppliers which are capable to meet project lead time and budget requirements
  • Ensure appropriate supply agreements are in place and guide the project team on how to monitor adherence to the terms of the agreement
  • Complete all necessary hand off activities required for release to production

Requirements/Education:

  • Thorough knowledge of procurement, sourcing, and supplier management
  • Experience with the use of enabling systems (PTC / SAP) to track progress, identify gaps, and develop plans to address

  • International sourcing and supplier management experience; preferably in area of responsibility
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office (Project, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams)
  • Requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 3 years and a Master’s degree; or equivalent experience
  • Electrical or Mechanical Engineering will be a plus as well as experience with Contract Manufacturing
