About the team – SAP User Experience

SAP User Experience is part of the development organization of SAP. We work to ensure that all of SAP’s solutions provide a consistent user experience that people enjoy using. With a multidisciplinary team of designers, user researchers, product managers, developers, architects, and more, SAP User Experience defines and drives SAP’s overall design strategy and product design. Over the past years, we have dramatically simplified our user experience with SAP Fiori ( and you can become part of this change going forward.

SAP Fiori Mobile Design is part of the SAP Fiori Design System. The team provides design concepts, guidelines, UI stencils, and the Fiori mentor app to accelerate the design & development of Fiori compliant native applications for internal and external use, ensuring that the user experience is intuitive, consistent, and seamless.

The Role

SAP User Experience is looking for an experienced and highly motivated UX Design Manager to lead our SAP Fiori Mobile Design team.

In this role, you will guide a diverse group of designers in Palo Alto and work with colleagues in the US (Bay Area & Chicago), Germany, Bulgaria, and France. You and your team need to have a deep understanding of business user needs, native mobile, as well as Fiori design concepts. You need to be able to communicate well on all hierarchy levels and drive collaboration with our customers and mobile partners.

  • Develop, motivate, mentor, and coach a great team of talented interaction designers
  • Define the next level of SAP Fiori for Mobile with our internal and external technology partners
  • Build strong relationships and drive collaboration with partners, customers and end users
  • Engage across organizational boundaries, especially with native mobile development and design teams across SAP
  • Conduct workshops with customers and partners
  • Be responsible for the strategic vision, roadmap, and requirements to achieve the goals of the topic area
  • Develop and control deadlines and activities
  • Manage and mitigate escalations and apply change and risk management
  • Ensure that the team's work is well represented internally and externally
  • Build a healthy work environment for your team with the atmosphere of empowerment and growth

Role Requirements

  • Must be able to drive a design vision and break it down in concrete requirements and implementation
  • Excellent understanding of native mobile platforms
  • A very structured approach in daily work and problem solving
  • Strong personality and design leadership
  • Must be a team player with excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Must be adaptable and comfortable with ambiguity and change
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

Work Experience

  • 10+ years of experience in UX Design
  • Proven track record of designing and delivering native mobile apps (iOS and Android)
  • 3 years of experience managing or leading a high-functioning team
  • Experience in managing the interface between concept design and technology
  • Experience with establishing and scaling processes that support designers
  • Background in research and design thinking methods
  • Experience with hiring and growing designers
  • Portfolio of UX work for mobile native and web applications
