This is a Union Position


Analyzes malfunctions and repairs, rebuilds, and maintains construction equipment, such as crains, power shovels, scrapers, paving machines, motor graders, trench-digging machines, conveyors, bulldozers, dredges, pumps, compressers and pneumatic tools.  Operates and inspects machines or equipment to diagnose defects.  Dismantles and reassembles equipment.



- Examines parts for damage or excessive wear

- Replaces defective engines

- Tests overhauled equipment to ensure operating effeciency

- Welds broken parts and structural members

- May assist workers
- Schedule maintenance

- Works in compliance with the city to keep facilities, drivers and pedestrians safe


Education / Experience:

Minimum two (2) to four (4) years vocational training or experience



Worker must be able to:

- Be organized

- Communicate both written and verbally

- Work independently

- Solve problems

- Work well in groups



Worker must be able to:

- exert force of occasionally 20 - 50 pounds, 10-25r pounds frequently, or uo to 10 pounds constantly 

- Stooping frequently

- Handling frequently

- Fingering frequently

 - Near acuity frequently

- Depth perception frequently

- Solve problems
