Job Summary
As a member of the United Rock Products Maintenance Team, the Maintenance Mechanic Level 1 is expected to safely and efficiently carry out typical maintenance activities and repairs required at our aggregate and reclamation sites. Activities include completing needed inspections, trouble shooting plant issues, using various tools and equipment to complete the repairs, confirm completion of repair and clean up after repair. Typical repairs include replacing screens, patching chutes, replacing conveyor belts, changing v belts / bearings, patching chutes, replacing conveyors replacing components,  etc. The Maintenance Mechnic1 is also expected to operate equipment typically used in repairs including fork lifts, tow motors, manlifts etc.  

As a member of the Maintenance Crew, the Maintenance Mechanic 1 will be required to assist with  housekeeping and clean up to aid in repairs as requested by plant management. 

The Maintenance Team typically works the second shift during the week when the plant is not operating as well as most Satursdays. Depending upon complexity of repair, some Sundays are also required. 

 

Essential Job Duties:
⦁    Examines and diagnoses problems, and repairs according to generally accepted methods.  Discusses extensive or difficult in depth repairs with foreman.
⦁    Performs routine scheduled maintenance as outlined on PM checklist sheets.
⦁    Removes components for repair or replacement such as, but not limited to; motors, gearboxes, pulleys, bearings, rollers, conveyor belts, v-belts, pumps, etc.
⦁    Disassembles components, inspects parts for wear, and determines cause of failure.
⦁    Inspects and Assist with replacement of partss such as crusher liners, screen bearings 
⦁    Replace screen media
⦁    Performs welding, cutting and fabricating, must pass a welding/cutting test.
⦁    Replaces and or repairs chute liners/wear plate 
⦁    Other duties as assigned.
⦁    Ability to use necessary tools.
⦁    Perform post repair test drives.
⦁    Possess mechanical as well as basic electrical skills.
⦁    Will perform clean-up as necessary to keep tools, equipment, and working areas clean, orderly, and safe.
⦁    Must comply with company safety rules and regulations and wear proper safety equipment while on plant grounds.  Safety equipment means clothing and apparatus including, but not limited to hardhat, safety  glasses, ear protection, safety shoes, back support belts, gloves and respirators.
⦁    Inspector equipment prior to shift for safety, environmental and maintenance defects 
⦁    Monitor ground and environmental conditions in your work area 
⦁    Complete Daily pre/ post equipment inspections - report as needed 
⦁    Maintain adequate cleanliness of equipment
⦁    Report any defects to shop, foreman and / or plant management 
⦁     Perform housekeeping (clean, shovel, remove trash and debris) to ensure a safe, clean and complaint operation  
⦁    Ensure site remains compliant with all MSHA, OSHA and EPA standards

 

Qualifications/Experience:
⦁    Strong, team oriented work ethic with strong focus on safety and environmental compliance
⦁    Ability to understand and follow Company Handbook and Safety Policies
⦁    Strong mechanical aptitude to understand the functions of the equipment including needed maintenance. 
⦁    Understands and complies with MSHA regulations preferred
⦁    MSHA Miner Training Certification preferred 
⦁    Ability to work well with others 
⦁    High school diploma or GED equivalent or 5 years industry related experience 
⦁    Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
⦁    5 years of plant maintenance experience in an aggregate (or equivalent) facility  

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
⦁    Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to drive company vehicle
⦁    Ability to stand, sit, walk, bend, lift, stoop, kneel, twist, crouch, reach, balance, and climb
⦁    Good vision (wither naturally or with correction)
⦁    Able to lift 75 pounds on a routine basis
⦁    Able to work in wet and dry conditions and extreme heat and cold
⦁    Work in an environment that may include mechanical parts, airborne particles and moderate to loud noises requiring the consistent use of proper PPE
⦁    Ability to walk on uneven surfaces
⦁    Work overtime and various shifts times as required
⦁    Weekend work as required to meet customer demands
⦁    Ability to operate heavy equipment as necessary
