Job Information

Temporary Reassignment Program

This program is only open to current University of Mississippi staff employees.

The Temporary Reassignment Program is designed to support departments who have job vacancies or other staffing needs as a result of the hiring pause by matching skills and/or abilities of internal staff employees impacted by a reduction in work due to COVID-19 and engaging them in available work assignments.

The employees participating in the Temporary Reassignment Program will not experience a change in reporting structure or job.

How does the Temporary Reassignment Program work?

Departments who have vacancies or special projects or have been impacted by the hiring pause, may engage internal staff employees affected by a reduction in work due to COVID-19 in short term, temporary assignments. (To request support in filling a work assignment through the Temporary Reassignment Program, a supervisor or manager should complete the request form.)

How do I participate?

If you are a UM staff employee that has been impacted by a reduction in work due to COVID-19, and would like to participate in the Temporary Reassignment Program, please submit  an interest form by clicking on the “Apply Now” link above. Please be sure all your information, especially your contact information, is accurate.

To participate in the Temporary Reassignment Program, you must have received the approval from your current/immediate supervisor prior to submitting your interest form. You must also be a regular/eligible (benefits eligible) staff employee in order to qualify for the Temporary Reassignment Program. Faculty members will not be eligible to accept assignments through the Temporary Reassignment Program. Faculty members may be assigned teaching duties in other departments throughout campus as needed.

All assignments are temporary, and participating in the Temporary Reassignment Program will not result in any of the following:

  • It does not guarantee you an assignment after you signed up for the program. This will depend on the availability and the requirements of requests.
  • It will not permanently reassign you from your current department to another department.
  • It will not change your current job title or your supervisor.
  • It does not promise additional assignments after an initial assignment. This will depend on the number of requests received by the HR Recruitment team and the requirements of the requests.

Submitting an interest form does not guarantee that you will be matched with a work assignment. A member from the HR Recruitment team will contact you after a match is made.
