Project Manager, Care and Repair

We are seeking an experienced residential Project Manager to oversee remodel projects for our Care and Repair Department throughout the Santa Barbara Area. The ideal candidate will enjoy working on multiple fast paced projects and seeing projects through from handshake to closeout, has bags on experience, and enjoys working in a team environment. They will be passionate about high-level craftmanship and client satisfaction and able to manage multiple projects at a time.

Position Overview:

The Project Manager is responsible for the oversight and management of project production for residential homes in Santa Barbara and the surrounding area. The Project Manager will work with the project team to deliver the Allen Construction quality and standards that have acclaimed numerous awards in the building industry. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, have experience as a Project Manager working remodel residential projects, have strong relationships with local trades, a passion for craftmanship and client satisfaction, and able to manage the project budget.

JOB DUTIES (include but not limited to):

  • Coordinate and supervise all construction activities
  • Directs all field personnel and trade partners to achieve completion of the project on schedule, within budget, with quality workmanship that conforms to original OR updated plans and specifications
  • Review the construction schedule and three-week look-ahead schedules. Identify when major slippage occurs and provide education on planning and execution of schedules as needed
  • Meet with clients, architects, representatives, and all stakeholders to keep them informed of the project status
  • Facilitate change management to ensure the success of the project as it deviates from prime contract scope
  • Approve trade invoices, and work with project accountant to produce timely client invoices
  • Organize and lead weekly project meetings (owner, architect, project stakeholders)
  • Conduct pre-construction client consultation and advise client on process
  • Develop estimates and proposals
  • Maintain proper documentation at all times

. Requirements:
  • A high school diploma or GED
  • Five (5) years of progressive experience in residential remodel construction with experience directly managing jobs
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to satisfactorily communicate in English with clients, colleagues, and trade partners to their understanding
  • Able to provide legible communication
  • Able to compute basic mathematical calculations
  • Able to utilize and understand spreadsheets
  • Ability to read and understand architectural plans sets
  • Able to read, understand, and interpret construction change orders, contracts, and other job-related documents
  • Experience in luxury upscale residential construction
  • Demonstrate experience and passion for quality building and client satisfaction
  • Possess a technical understanding of residential construction codes, sequencing, and best building practices
  • Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record
  • Experience with estimating and contracts preferred
  • Has own tools
  • Has reliable transportation


  • Bachelor's degree, B.Arch. degree, or other related degree
  • General Contractor's License
  • LEED AP designation and/or green building experience
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Office Project
  • Ability to communicate in a second language, preferably Spanish
  • Certification in C.P.R.
  • OSHA 10 or 30


Must be able to work in outside weather conditions, including rain and extreme heat, near moving mechanical parts and includes occasional exposure to wet and/or humid and or cold conditions.

Must be able to stand, sit, squat, turn, bend, walk, climb stairs and ladders, work at heights, operate telephone and computer, see, speak, hear, write, and lift up to 50 pounds
