Health Educator

Position Summary/Position


Under the direction of the Manager of Health Education, the Health Educator is responsible for the overall success of a Health Education Program from development and implementation, to marketing, outreach, reconciliation of incentives/inventory, and evaluation of IEHP Member Health Education Programs and services. The Health Educator must ensure that the materials meet current clinical content, reading level, and cultural context are appropriate for populations served. In addition, the Health Educator must evaluate population-specific health education programs to demonstrate efficacy and strategic alignment to IEHP goals.

Major Functions (Duties and Responsibilities)


1. Review and field test educational materials to ensure current clinical content, reading level, and cultural context are appropriate for the population served.
2. Develop health education materials and curricula as mandated by regulatory and accreditation agencies, and in collaboration with other relevant IEHP departments.
3. Evaluate population-specific health education programs by developing methodology, collecting data, analyzing information, and reporting findings to relevant committees.
4. Deliver health promotion resources through direct health education or program materials or by professional service agreement.
5. Provide technical assistance to IPAs, practitioners, and contracted Providers in implementing health education programs and services.
6. Assist in developing and monitoring IEHP Health Education standards and corresponding training protocols such as in-services, on-boarding, and updates.
7. Coordinate community education, promotional marketing, and targeted outreach activities.
8. Reconcile inventory of supplies, educational materials, member incentives, and promotional items required for health education programs.
9. Assist in daily operations, logistics and processes for assigned Health Education Programs.

Supervisory Responsibilities Leading: SelfExperience Qualifications


Three (3) or more years of experience in health education, program planning, evaluation, and policy development. Experience in writing reports, creating low-literacy education materials, and in developing health education programs for patients or the community.

Preferred Experience Education Qualifications


Master’s degree in Public Health in Health Education or in related field equivalent to public health or health promotion experience from an accredited institution required.

Preferred Education Professional Certification


Attainment of Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) status is preferred.

Professional Licenses Drivers License Required Yes, must have a valid California Driver's License.Knowledge Requirement


Possess subject matter expertise around a discipline of health education such as chronic condition prevention, nutrition, behavioral health, and knowledge working across the lifecycle.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Strong organizational skills.

Automobile travel to community sites within the Inland Empire 25-50% of the time is required.  Must be able to lift, push or pull up to 25 lbs.  Items weighing more than 25 pounds will require assistance when moving.  Back support belts must be worn while lifting, pushing or pulling items.

Starting Salary: $66,040.00  - $84,219.20  

Pay rate will commensurate with experience
