About the role

This role will report directly to the Senior Manager of the Design Team/Head of Experience Design, within Global Digital Marketing at Boston Scientific. This a lead role within the in-house design team, which will work cross-functionally on Digital Marketing campaigns, cross-organizational initiatives, as well as being a key player in developing our design guidelines, including web, email, display standards. You will lead design projects from conceptual stages all the way to clear, well-defined designs. You are expected to identify pain points, generate ideas quickly, help define requirements, and drive design initiatives that provide measurable value to our customers and business. This is a strategic role, but you will also execute on the vision you set forth. You will have the opportunity to provide direction and guidance to other members of the internal team, as well as our agency partners and network of freelancers.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Bring experience in Marketing Design and Customer Experience, with an understanding of Product Design and UX
  • Mastered the formal aspects of visual design including typography, color, and layout
  • Are an expert at designing for responsive web-based products and can communicate your ideas effectively to development
  • Are well-versed in digital best-practices for integrated marketing tactics, i.e. web-based solutions, email platforms, display advertising and social media
  • Bring experience in Implementing brand guidelines and standards to align content across multiple media and platforms. You also bring design leadership to the table, to optimize and enhance those guidelines
  • Validate external creative touchpoints for compliance with brand standards and campaign objectives
  • Demonstrate thought leadership in User-Centered Design, and are well-versed in design-thinking and processes to achieve a customer centered solution
  • Have demonstrated experience in atomic design, as well as contributing to and maintaining a Design System. You design for scale and can show that with your work.
  • Demonstrated expertise in developing compelling visual experiences that are driven by data and customer feedback
  • You are both a visual and verbal storyteller, delivering insights about people and behavior in a way that generates empathy, emotion, and engagement
  • Exude a creative and scrappy spirit with rigorous attention to detail
  • Welcome opportunities to flex outside your comfort zone

 

What we’re looking for:

  • 7+ years of design experience across a variety of digital media, working in a creative team environment
  • BS / MS in a design field
  • Excellent analytical, verbal, writing and presentation skills 
  • Experience designing mobile first and for omni-channel design systems 
  • Expert using Adobe CC, Sketch and InVision, with experience Sketching/using InVision (or other program) for rapid-prototyping.
  • Experience designing for CMS systems a must, experience with AEM a bonus
  • Experience in concept ideation, design strategy, rapid prototyping, and visual design. You can show work examples of design from ideation and development, to implementation and activation
  • Demonstrate experience working in agile methodologies, with many different teams, including Product, Marketing, Content Strategy, Development
  • Proven track record of designing successful digital ecosystems and responsive websites
  • Expertise in creation of Illustrations, icons, and info-graphics preferred
  • Working knowledge of front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, SASS, JS). You need to be able to discuss your solutions with developers.
  • Have a solid understanding of accessibility guidelines and how to design to achieve ADA compliance
  • A comprehensive portfolio of work samples across various media, featuring excellent design, color and typographic skills
  • Experience in design for healthcare a plus
