MANAGER, STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT (Western Canadian Region)

 

Emergent BioSolutions is currently seeking a Manager, Stakeholder Engagement for our Western Canadian Region, in a field-based position. A bachelor’s degree or equivalent is required and 6 or more year’s of experience in a pharmaceutical commercial role. The select candidate must have a demonstrated entrepreneurial mindset that can leverage opportunities and overcome obstacles. In addition, the ideal candidate will have strong sales and or marketing acumen and the experience working directly with or alongside teams involved in the Public Health, Government Relations, public policy and/or advocacy is considered an asset.   In addition, this individual will possess a strong work ethic and a commitment to excellence and innovation.

 

THE OPPORTUNITY

 

The Manager, Stakeholder Engagement, [Western Canadian Region] is a field-based stakeholder engagement and communication professional responsible for pulling through marketing and sales strategies at a community level. This individual will drive awareness and engagement of the need for NARCAN Nasal Spray as a harm reduction tool among diverse stakeholders within targeted communities throughout their region, including but not limited to: municipal bureaucratic leaders, public health managers, community based organization, community pharmacists, first responders (police, EMS), secondary, and post-secondary institutions. The ideal candidate is a well-spoken, enthusiastic, results-oriented and organized person with the ability to work strategically and collaboratively with all stakeholders, to ensure key messages and opportunities to drive NARCAN distribution are optimized.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

  • Work strategically to understand barriers and opportunities to adoption and distribution of NARCAN by key stakeholder groups within the region.
  • Working collaboratively with internal business partners, the Stakeholder Engagement Manager, [Western Canadian Region], will develop and execute a regional business plan based on strategic insights and our brand imperatives, to meet and exceed distribution goals for NARCAN through various channels and stakeholders across targeted regions and communities. 
  • Support marketing initiatives by facilitating regional implementation of programs that drive awareness and activation among key stakeholders (especially pharmacy and public health), as well as the general public in targeted communities;
  • Drive distribution of NARCAN through effective communication and adherence to internal processes, which includes preparation of client-specific presentations and other data to respond to client needs in a compliant manner;
  • Identify, interact and partner with key stakeholders across region;
  • Represent Emergent at key local congresses and stakeholder meetings;
  • Determine and anticipate potential changes within the government and community healthcare marketplace and alert Stakeholder Engagement Director so the appropriate steps can be initiated;
  • Maintain contact with the marketing department regarding key developments, opportunities and requests from KOLs;
  • Expand knowledge base by attending opioid-abuse related educational programs; reviewing clinical publications; establishing networks of influence

  
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS: 

 

  • The select candidate must have a demonstrated entrepreneurial mindset that can leverage opportunities and overcome obstacles.
  • Bachelors’ degree or equivalent required;
  • Six or more years of experience in a pharmaceutical commercial role; 2 or more of these years spent at a senior sales/account management level and/or marketing manager level;
  • Strong sales and business acumen with documented successes and achievements;
  • Pharmacist degree or public health experience is an asset;
  • Market Access/Reimbursement/Payer knowledge and/or experience in Canada is an asset;
  • Experience working directly with, or alongside teams involved in Public Health, Government Relations, public policy and/or advocacy is an asset;
  • Prior experience with opioid antagonist or related products and/or experience within substance abuse treatment environment and/or mental health is an asset;
  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Understanding and passion to assist those suffering from chronic substance abuse, dependency and the associated comorbid conditions;
  • Understanding of how the political and bureaucratic environments (both local and national) can affect patient access to products;
  • Self-starter and able to work independently, as well as collaboratively with multi-disciplinary team members;
  • Results-orientation;
  • Strong critical thinking/problem solving skills;
  • Strong business analytic skills to assess potential opportunities across the region;
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences;
  • Familiarity and/or experience using a consultative selling approach;
  • Working knowledge of the pharmaceutical development process and health care environment;
  • Strong knowledge of good pharmaceutical practices and guidelines for healthcare professional interactions;
  • Ability to build strong relationships with key customer stakeholders is essential;
  • Strong project management skills, ability to manage multiple high priorities, identify resource needs, drive to completion;
  • Excellent interpersonal, and oral and written communication skills;
  • Skilled in presenting and tailoring presentation to audience, engaging audience and adapting to last minute changes.

 

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • This is a field based position with an average of approxilmately 60% travel required.
