Description

We are seeking a senior Account-Based Enterprise Architect to partner with strategic Energy & Utilities clients in Victoria. This role sits at the intersection of business strategy, technology architecture, and delivery execution, supporting long-term account growth and transformation outcomes. You will work alongside Account Executives, consulting leaders, and client executives to shape enterprise-wide roadmaps that stand up to Board, regulator, and operational scrutiny.

The role requires a strong consulting mindset: structured problem solving, executive communication and presentation excellence, cultural awareness, and deep organisational change management acumen—combined with credible hands-on enterprise architecture experience.

Victoria’s utilities landscape combines regulated infrastructure with competitive market and retail dynamics. Architects must navigate complexity across customer platforms, market systems, and operational environments.

What You Will Do

  1. Act as the trusted enterprise architecture advisor
    • Serve as the senior architecture authority for one or more strategic utility accounts.
    • Partner with client executives (CIO, CTO, COO, Heads of Digital/Technology) to align business strategy, operating models, and technology architecture.
    • Translate business and regulatory drivers into coherent enterprise, domain, and solution architectures.
  2. Lead with a consulting mindset
    • Apply structured problem solving to diagnose complex enterprise challenges and prioritise value-driven architecture decisions.
    • Facilitate executive workshops and architecture vision sessions to align stakeholders on future-state outcomes and trade-offs.
    • Develop executive-ready artefacts: architecture visions, roadmaps, investment cases, and option assessments.
    • Demonstrate executive gravitas and cultural awareness when engaging Boards, regulators, and senior operational leaders.
    • Bring strong organisational change management (OCM) awareness—understanding how architecture decisions impact people, process, and operations.
    • Operate fluently within the Australian regulatory context (AER, AEMO, AEMC, state departments and relevant regulators), and Essential Services Commission (Victoria).
  3. Shape and govern transformation roadmaps
    • Define current-state and target-state architectures across IT, OT, data, cloud, security, and integration domains.
    • Shape multi-year transformation roadmaps aligned to capital programs, regulatory cycles, and delivery capacity.
    • Provide architecture governance across programs and vendors to ensure coherence, sustainability, and risk management.
  4. VIC-specific priorities
    • Architectures spanning regulated networks and market-facing (retail, customer, billing) platforms.
    • Data, analytics, and AI architectures enabling customer insight, flexibility, and market responsiveness.
    • Integration and platform strategies supporting multi-vendor, market-driven ecosystems.
  5. Enable deal success and delivery confidence
    • Support major pursuits by shaping architecture-led value propositions and solution strategies.
    • Partner with delivery teams to ensure architectural intent is realised through implementation.
    • Act as a bridge between strategy, sales, and delivery—ensuring credibility from pitch through execution.

What We Are Looking For

Experience & background

  • 12+ years’ experience in enterprise architecture, solution architecture, or consulting roles within complex organisations.
  • Strong experience in the Energy & Utilities sector in Australia (networks, water, generation, retail, or government-owned enterprises).
  • Proven experience engaging at C-suite and senior executive level.

Consulting mindset & executive presence

  • Structured, hypothesis-led problem solver comfortable with ambiguity and complexity.
  • Exceptional communication and facilitation skills, including executive workshops and Board-level presentations.
  • Executive gravitas: credible, calm, and trusted by senior stakeholders.
  • Strong cultural awareness and ability to adapt style across diverse client and community environments.
  • Solid understanding of organisational change and how architecture decisions enable or hinder adoption.

Technical & architectural capability

  • Strong grounding in enterprise architecture frameworks and practices (e.g. TOGAF or equivalent).
  • Experience across digital platforms, ERP (SAP), cloud, data & analytics, integration, and security.
  • Understanding of IT/OT convergence and cyber considerations in critical infrastructure environments.
