Travel ICU Registered Nurse (RN) / Critical Care RN
Setting:
ICU (Intensive Care Unit) – Level II Trauma Center
Unit:
MICU with some SICU (16 beds)
Shift:
12-hour Nights (7:00 PM start), 3 shifts per week — night shift ICU travel job
Guaranteed Hours:
36 hours per week
Duration:
13 weeks (Start: 4/27/2026 – End: 7/27/2026)
Weekend Requirement:
Every other weekend
Holiday Requirement:
Participate in holiday rotation
Dress Code:
Black scrubs
Job Requirements / Qualifications
At least 1 year of recent ICU experience in a Level I or Level II Trauma Center (experience with hospitals of 300+ beds preferred)
Active RN license (Illinois license or Compact RN license accepted)
Current ACLS and BLS required; NIHSS required
PALS certification preferred
Experience with CRRT (Prismaflex) highly preferred
Proficiency titrating drips and interpreting cardiac monitor strips
Experience pulling sheaths preferred
Strong critical thinking, teamwork, and communication skills for high-acuity critical care nursing
Key Responsibilities
Provide high-quality care to critically ill patients in a 16-bed ICU (MICU/SICU)
Manage complex cases including trauma, neuro, cardiac, and post-surgical patients—typical critical care RN duties
Perform bedside procedures such as trach care, chest tube management, bronchoscopy support, and arterial line insertion
Titrate and monitor ICU drips (Precedex, vasopressors, antiarrhythmics, sedation)
Collaborate with intensivists, hospitalists, respiratory therapists, and monitor techs to deliver coordinated care
Float to PCU/CVICU as needed, primarily serving as a support nurse
Participate in unit orientation, ongoing competency training, and maintain annual certifications
Maintain accurate documentation using Allscripts EMR/charting system
