Suburban Connect is a consortium of global leaders in tunnelling including CPB Contractors, Ghella and Acciona Construction delivering the Tunnels South package on Suburban Rail Loop (SRL) East, on behalf of Suburban Rail Loop Authority (SRLA).
We have a broad range of roles available to build our diverse and inclusive workforce, including construction and engineering, planning and environmental management, corporate support, administration, communications and many others.
SRL East from Cheltenham to Box Hill is now under construction, with tunnelling to start in 2026 and trains to be running by 2035.
Suburban Connect is constructing the 16 kms of tunnels between Cheltenham and Glen Waverley using 4 tunnel boring machines and a range of excavation methods. The works also include 55 cross passages, 2 tunnel portal structures, 2 station box excavations and associated supports.
Purpose of the role
This role is responsible for delivering electrical engineering support on one of Melbourne’s largest infrastructure projects. Working as part of the broader Engineering team, the Electrical Engineer will collaborate closely with project managers, construction teams and other engineering disciplines to ensure the successful design and delivery of electrical systems across the project.
Key responsibilities
- Design and develop electrical systems for various project requirements.
- Conduct site inspections and troubleshoot electrical issues during construction and installation phases.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and construction teams to ensure seamless project delivery.
- Ensure all electrical works comply with relevant industry standards, codes, and safety regulations.
- Prepare detailed technical reports, documentation, and design specifications.
- Support continuous improvement by identifying and implementing efficient engineering solutions.
We are looking for someone with
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field.
- 6–10 years of experience in electrical engineering, ideally within construction or infrastructure projects.
- Proficiency with electrical design software and engineering tools.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Relevant certifications or licenses (preferred, not essential).
