Our client is an ambitious AI-driven SaaS scale-up based in Ghent, building intelligent software that helps businesses unlock better decision-making through data. With strong product-market fit and growing international traction, they are now looking for a Senior PHP Developer to take technical ownership of their core platform and help mentor the next phase of engineering growth.
This is a high-impact position for someone who thrives in scale-up environments and enjoys combining hands-on development with technical leadership.
You’ll play a key role in shaping the backend platform built primarily in PHP (Laravel), while working closely with product and leadership to evolve the architecture as the company grows.
Responsibilities
- Take ownership of the core backend platform (PHP/Laravel)
- Design and maintain high-performance architecture
- Lead backend best practices and technical standards
- Mentor and support mid-level and junior developers
- Conduct code reviews and improve development workflows
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product and data teams
- Contribute to architectural decisions as the platform scales
- Support integrations with AI-driven features and services
Your Profile
- 5+ years of experience in backend development
- Strong expertise in PHP
- Deep experience with Laravel
- Experience owning or leading parts of a SaaS platform
- Solid understanding of software architecture and scalable systems
- Experience mentoring or coaching developers
- Strong problem-solving skills and proactive mindset
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced scale-up environment
Big Plus
- Experience or strong interest in AI systems
- Knowledge of Python
- Experience integrating AI/ML services or working alongside data teams
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and DevOps practices
