Med/Surg RN travel contract in Kerrville, TX — Night shift opportunity for experienced medical-surgical nurses (2+ years) with ACLS/BLS in Texas wine country, 1 hour from San Antonio.

• Patient Ratio: 1:6 nights

• Weekend Shifts Required: 12 per contract
  

Job Requirements / Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg and short stay experience required — ideal for medical-surgical nurses and travel RNs
  
• Telemetry experience preferred (telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation)
  
• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license (state requirements apply)
  
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS (AHA certifications required)
  
• Experience with Meditech charting system preferred
  
• Ability to float to 2 West, CDU, and ARU units as needed — flexibility for short stay and telemetry patients
  
• COVID-19 and Flu vaccines required (medical/religious exemptions allowed)
  
• Must be available to work 3 out of 5 winter holidays if contract covers that period
  

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality patient care to adult and geriatric patients in a 26-bed Med/Surg unit — medical-surgical nursing duties
  
• Manage a patient ratio of 1:6 during night shifts and prioritize safe patient assignments
  
• Administer and manage blood products, central lines, chest tubes, feeding tubes, and surgical drains
  
• Interpret arterial blood gases and dysrhythmias; manage telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm changes
  
• Provide care for patients with respiratory, cardiac, GI, urinary, endocrine disorders, and acute substance withdrawal
  
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
  
• Float to other units as required and adapt to short stay and telemetry patient needs — strong clinical flexibility
  
• Maintain isolation precautions, PPE use, and infection control standards (patient safety and compliance)
