What you’ll be doing
- Supporting and operating custom, business-critical applications in an on-prem environment
- Managing system and application patching, configuration, and certificate lifecycle processes
- Improving operational efficiency through scripting and automation
- Working closely with developers to support applications and help expose APIs for easier operations and support
- Assisting with platform modernisation initiatives, including preparation for cloud migration
- Collaborating with systems, network, database, and development teams across the business
- Helping stabilise and improve application operations while balancing BAU support and project work
Experience required
- Experience in systems engineering or application operations roles
- Exposure to supporting production applications (Java environments ideal)
- Working knowledge of operating systems and infrastructure above the OS layer
- Some experience or strong interest in automation and scripting
- Comfortable working with developers without being a dedicated developer
