We are looking for someone with proven expertise in traffic and transport management, particularly in temporary traffic management within a local government environment.
Base pay range
A$117,000.00/yr - A$130,000.00/yr
Working Conditions
- Permanent Full Time | 9 day fortnight
- 72.5 hour fortnight
- Hybrid, flexible working environment, including some work from home days.

Responsibilities
- Drive Technical Leadership – Lead and mentor the Integrated Transport Planning and Design team in delivering Road Manager functions.
- Shape Traffic Management – Oversee the implementation of measures to improve Council’s temporary traffic management permits and Traffic Guidance Schemes process.
- Collaborate Across Council – Work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to deliver integrated transport solutions.
- Represent Council – Act as the primary liaison with regulators and industry partners, including NHVR and Department of Transport and Main Roads.
- Manage Standards and Reporting – Manage the day-to-day operation of Council’s temporary traffic management permit and Traffic Guidance Schemes approvals. Maintain traffic management drawings, ensure compliance, and oversee budgets and performance reporting.
About you
- Strong legislative and standards knowledge with applied understanding of policies and best practice.
- Industry and stakeholder knowledge with established external relationships.
- Extensive experience coordinating amendments and approvals for traffic management plans, guidance schemes, and oversize/over mass vehicle permits.
- High-level technical advisory skills to address transport issues, deliver practical solutions.
- Analytical capability to review and interpret complex technical reports, plans, and development proposals.
