Autonomous Haulage System (AHS) - Controller Supervisor

Reporting to the General Supervisor, Mine Operations, the AHS Controller Supervisor has the following responsibilities:

Responsibilities:

  • Be a courageous safety leader by adhering to and championing safety and environmental policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with Teck Health, Safety and Environmental Programs and the BC Mines Act.
  • Primarily responsible for Cat MineStar Fleet Management System by managing the shift production, assigning equipment and tracking that the shift production goals will be safely met or exceeded.
  • Configure the real-time AHS to monitor and record operation of equipment in the AOZ
  • Coordinate and manage the AOZ shift activities with supervisors, equipment operators, mine planning, technical support, OEM, and maintenance personnel.
  • Ensure the integrity of the AHS digital representation of the mine (road network, locations, equipment, etc.).
  • Safely manage and optimize Autonomous Mining Truck (AMT) activity
  • Optimizing AMT assignments
  • Optimizing and configuring AMT operating parameters
  • Proactively managing AMT traffic to allow for continuous flow
  • Reactively managing AMT traffic issues as they occur by identifying stopped AMTs, diagnosing issues, and executing safe corrective measures to resume AMT operation.
  • AMT transfer of control and mode changes from autonomous to manual (and vice versa) to field personnel
  • Minimizing delays throughout the shift
  • Coordinating allocation of auxiliary equipment to minimize equipment delays
  • Monitor and report on the working status of hardware and software of the AHS system
  • Perform AHS Builder and AHS Pit Supervisor responsibilities as required for system understanding and coverage purposes.
  • Coordination of emergency responses in AOZ.

Qualifications:

  • Exemplary safety leadership
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in open pit mining
  • Advanced computer skills, experience with fleet management systems (specifically MineStar) would be considered an asset
  • Qualifications in engineering or related fields would be considered an asset
  • Motivated self-starter with the ability to multi-task and excel in a fast paced, dynamic environment
  • Detail oriented with a bias for accuracy and thoroughness
  • Experience with autonomous haulage technology would be considered an asset
  • Strategic thinker with strong collaboration and coordination skills
  • Strong communication (both written and oral), organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Possess or ability to attain a valid shift boss certificate
  • Previous supervisory experience would be considered an asset
  • Possess a valid driver’s license
