Candidates may not have been directly employed (full time, part time, or PRN) by any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity within the past year. Candidates who were employed PRN through outside firms will be considered.

***PRIOR TO ACCEPTANCE, THE DYS EXAM (BASIC) THROUGH UNA IS REQUIRED ALONG WITH ACCEPTANCE. MUST BE COMPLETED WITHIN 24-48 HRS. IT’S PASS OR FAIL AND THEY GET 2 ATTEMPTS (TEST A SHOULD BE ASSIGNED FIRST, TEST B SHOULD BE ASSIGNED FOR THE RETAKE). A SCREENSHOT SHOWING THE NUMBER OF ATTEMPTS IS REQUIRED. **We can accept the Relias basic Dys exam within the last 12mo if the traveler has previously taken**

- Certs: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS. 2 years in Neuro ICU preferred.
- Ratios: 1:1 - 2
- EMR: Cerner
- Charge Nurse: Yes, generally does not take patients, but will do break relief.
- Nurse Aides: Yes as Safety Attendants (sitters)
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Holidays: Rotate in with core staff
- Scrub Color: Navy - under shirts must be navy, white, or black. Scrub jackets are optional, must be navy.
- Tele: Yes, must be able to read and interpret EKG strips.
- Vents: Yes
- Hospitalist or Intensivist in house: Yes, Hospitalist or Intensivist
- IV Team: No
- RT 24/7: Yes
- Pharmacy 24/7: Yes and ICU Pharmacy open during dayshift.
- Shifts: 12 hr shifts. Shift starts 645. Report is at the bedside. OT and extra shifts are available. Self-scheduling is used, but is not finalized until Manager balances it. Schedules are out 4 weeks. Travelers can access their schedules from home and make themselves "available" for extra shifts and make trades with other staff. Block scheduling is generally not available.
- Floating: All other Sacramento facilities. Mid-shift float to another facility is rare, but can happen.
- Floor specific orientation: 1 - 2 days on the floor with preceptor.
- Common diagnosis / Types of patients: CVA, ICB, neuro surgeries, craniotomies, neuro interventional radiology, ventriculostomies. Line insertions are common.
- Additional Notes: Strong Stroke Program and Neuro Center. Newer, state of the art unit.
