Engineering Services Manager

Primary Function

Reporting to the Director of Commercial Engineering, the Engineering Services Manager will manage the activities and resources of the Engineering Services team within the Commercial Product Engineering group to ensure support is provided to meet the department and company goals.  The Engineering Services Manager will coordinate with Engineering and Manufacturing to facilitate research, development, and/or product process improvements and enhancements to support business needs. The incumbent will implement policies and procedures to maintain product compliance. 


  1. Supervise and manage CAD Supervisor and assigned engineering team members effectively and efficiently to achieve the objectives and goals for engineering services, product maintenance and agency issues.
  2. Develops work schedules for department by assessing priorities, workload, and available resources
  3. Coach, mentor, and motivate staff of the Product Engineering Group, BOM Technician Group and Engineering Services Supervisors.
  4. Assign and monitor change requests utilizing company’s PLM system
  5. Ensure item and bill of material attributes are accurate and maintained in PLM system
  6. Understand departmental policies and procedures for assigning numbers, redlining bills of material, revising drawings, and working change requests into change orders while utilizing the company’s PLM system.
  7. Supervises both long and short term product engineering projects, codes/standards, and general technical support to manufacturing.
  8. Coordinate lab resource needs with Lab Manager to assure that resources are being planned to accomplish the goals needed by the team
  9. Manage CAD resource needs with CAD Supervisor to assure that resources are being planned to accomplish the goals needed by the Engineering Team.
  10. Review and report on all projects on a weekly and monthly basis
  11. Evaluate and propose opportunities within the Product Engineering group to improve efficiency and accuracy of the services being provided to all affected parties, and set the necessary goals to achieve these objectives
  12. Ensure departments compliance with regulatory requirements and agencies such as CSA, UL, and ASME
  13. Travel as needed to review field installations, attend meetings, visit trade shows, etc.
  14. Assist Quality Assurance with technical evaluations from field returns/problems
  15. Supervise assigned team staff members, and provide guidance and direction where needed in matters of discipline.
  16. Insure that direct reports are performing in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.  
  17. Responsibilities include assisting with interviewing potential staff candidates for purposes of hiring, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  18. Perform other duties as assigned


  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field
  • 5+ years of gas product development and/or service experience dealing with gas combustion and water heater applications
  • 2+ years of technical supervisory experience
  • Experience with Product Engineering, CAD and BOM related functions
  • Must have familiarity with technical writing and be able to discern information to formulate proposals for technical material productions. 
  • Must be able to effectively communicate verbally and in writing. 
  • Must demonstrate excellent leadership skills and the ability to lead project work in a team environment.
