Opportunity:

Registered Nurse - PCU

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour night shifts from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM, 3 shifts per week (4x12s available upon request)

• Patient ratio of 1:4-5 (goal is 4:1, but consistently work at 5:1)

• Weekend requirement: either every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week scheduling block

• Must work one holiday per 13-week contract

• EPIC charting system experience required

• Post heart surgery experience required for Open Heart/Thoracic PCU position

• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS

• Floating required within skillset to other PCU or medical-surgical level units

• Provide cardiac monitoring and emergency response with interpretation and management of dysrhythmias

• Manage IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line care

• Administer and manage cardiac drips including Cardizem, Heparin, Insulin, low-dose dopamine/dobutamine, Amiodarone, Nitro, Bumex, and Lasix (no titration)

• Provide respiratory support including nasal cannula, oxygen delivery, and non-invasive airway management

• Care for patients with chest tubes, trachs, PICC lines, open wounds/drains, and LVADs

• Work with remote telemetry monitoring and tele sitting systems

• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience required

• First-time travelers accepted depending on experience (prefer experience at 250+ bed hospital)

This 703-bed acute care teaching hospital serves as a flagship medical facility and is the region's only Level I Trauma Center. The hospital is Magnet-designated for nursing excellence and affiliated with a medical school. It features advanced specialty care, a dedicated children's hospital, and is certified as an Advanced Thrombectomy Capable Stroke Center. The Open Heart/Thoracic PCU serves as a stepdown unit with trauma residents and mid-level providers in-house, focusing primarily on post-cardiac surgery patients.
