Engineering Due Diligence Manager (Project Portfolio Execution Coordinator -PEC)

* IMPORTANT NOTE: This is not an IT-type job, but more akin to those who have commercial project management experience. JOB SUMMARY The PEC will support a client's "Energy & Location Strategy" (ELS) Portfolio Management Team. The mission of ELS is to provide data center production capacity, anywhere in the world, in a timeframe that meets client's needs. The successful candidate will support off-site civil infrastructure development and portfolio management for new and existing data center sites and related infrastructure. The PEC will have a strong working knowledge of engineering consultant contract administration, local compliance measures, and construction project management. Since the PEC will be interacting with internal and external stakeholders; effective communication skills (written & oral) are requisite. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1.Administer/execute specific terms from various site-related professional services contracts and construction agreements 2.Potentially participate in and as appropriate lead design & construction project management activities that require in-person meetings with local/city/state agencies and construction contractors 3.Support the Portfolio Manager ("PfM") with specific, delegated relationship management tasks including, but not limited to work with real estate developers, landowners, power grid and energy companies, telecommunications companies, other utility companies and government officials 4.Policies & Procedures a.Develop working knowledge of applicable ELS policies and demonstrates understanding of ELS / Portfolio Management guidelines and procedures, such as change control, contract management, and document/records management b.Collaborate cross-functionally with internal and external teams and guide/inform/educate project team members via documented processes, procedures, or guidelines. 5.Manage and/or support ad-hoc assignments to accomplish project & portfolio goals 6.Attend meetings as appropriate and follow up on key issues with team members. In the event of an absence, the PEC may lead/facilitate meetings to ensure that scheduled meetings proceed accordingly without impacting the project schedule. 7.Develop first draft deliverables for Portfolio Manager ("PfM") review, which requires the obtaining and incorporation of stakeholder input (e.g. internal client's legal and business reviews), collaboration during editing with the PfM, and finalizing deliverables for senior manager/executive-level decision making and approvals. 8.Adjust/tailor project tasks as applicable to assigned project's execution strategy. 9.May act as point of contact on behalf of Portfolio Manager ("PfM") to interface with various internal subject matter functions (e.g., Construction, Design, Environmental, Regulatory Affairs, Public Affairs, PR, Legal, Engineering, etc.) and external agencies/stakeholders (local/city/state regulators, USFWS, utilities, etc.) [when appropriate] to accomplish project goals. 10.Orchestrate timely communications among project team members, which can include identifying, creating, and updating project resources/tools (e.g., Project Tracker inputs and updates, site workbooks, change control log(s), risk register(s), etc.) used by team members so that appropriate actions are taken. 11.Populates SOWs, facilitates PO creation and funding requests, coordinates with vendors, processes contracts, including internal approvals. 12.Records Management and Retention a.Administer project documentation and document control systems, which includes processes for the receipt, review, approval, issue, reproduction, distribution, version control, classification, storage/retrieval, access privileges, and retention of project-related files and documents. 13.Ad-hoc Assignments a.Manage and/or support ad-hoc assignments to accomplish project goals \n\nQUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE BA/BS degree in civil engineering, electrical engineering, construction management, or architecture, or a related field CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSES PMP (US and/or Canada) and LEED AP preferred. COMMUNICATION SKILLS Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and analytical skills. Ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable and courteous service to customers. Ability to effectively present information. FINANCIAL KNOWLEDGE Requires advanced knowledge of financial terms and principles. Ability to calculate intermediate figures such as percentages, discounts, and commissions. Conducts advanced financial analysis. REASONING ABILITY Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret complex documents. Ability to solve problems involving several options in situations. Requires advanced analytical and quantitative skills. OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to read and understand architectural drawings. Knowledge in MS Project, leases, contracts, and construction practices. 8 years of relevant working experience 5 years experience in energy/utility/construction related roles 5 years experience in a consultation role; with experience administering engineering consulting contract, and construction contracts and other real estate development-related agreements 3 years of experience working with real estate developers, landowners, power grid and energy companies, telecommunications companies, other utility companies and government officials Location: Must be able to work locally out of Sunnyvale SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY Decisions made with thorough understanding of procedures, company policies, and business practices to achieve general results and deadlines.
