Job Summary

This position is responsible for the implementation and administration of CMS’s commercial customer Web sites.  In this role the Web Designer will interface with the Web coordinator in reference to the layout, pages required, images for the site and programming. Experience with HTML and graphics creation. Familiar with programming Java, Java Script, Macromedia Flash, site management, database knowledge, and ColdFusion. An aptitude for problem solving is required, along with the ability to prioritize an ever-changing workload.  The economic impact of this job to CMS can be substantial.  Failure to perform at acceptable levels may result in significant loss of revenue for CMS and substantial legal liabilities.

Job Description

  • Plan, designs, and administers large-scale Web sites, requiring programming in multiple languages.  Review and rewrite existing code for clients as required.
  • Integrate new technology with existing Web sites and applications as customers’ requests come in.
  • Research new technologies for enhancement of customer Web products.
  • Act as a technical resource for other departments, employees and clients on Internet related matters to resolve server conflicts.
  • Day to HTML/CGI creative and quality resources will require the standard analytical skills on a Web programmer combined with the creative decision making of a designer.  E-mail responses and face to face meetings with the Web coordinator will require a level and measured approach to customer service and interaction.
  • Solving customer problems with database integration

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, math, biology, engineering or physics or related field or the equivalent in training and experience.
  • 2-4 years Internet Programming in a Web server environment or the equivalent in training and experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of HTML, Java, Perl, SQL, C++, browser capabilities, client/server technologies, HTTP, FTP, ColdFusion, Macromedia Flash, Adobe PhotoShop, Adobe Acrobat and RealAudio
  • Knowledge of Unix, NT, SQL, and database technologies.


  • Master’s Degree with 0-1 years of experience
  • Working knowledge of Adobe PhotoShop   
  • Knowledge of sound editing software package.
