Investment Operations Summer Intern

What's the role?

Investment Operations - Internship


Assist in providing administrative and operational support in Investment Operations which ensures timely and accurate execution of all transactions related to, Mason Street Advisors (MSA), Northwestern Mutual Capital (NMC) and Northwestern Mutual Real Estate Investments (NMRE), public and private managed investments.  This includes assisting with document management, special data projects, and mail delivery. Assist with many facets of data integrity, accounting, reporting, and system maintenance.  Involvement with day to day transactions related to investment activity is a possibility upon proficiency with daily tasks.


$200+ billion of total assets (excluding policy loans) 

$500+ billion annual securities transactions from basic to highly complex



  • Assist a team of 10 to ensure accurate and efficient execution of private placement transactions including fixed income, common stock, derivatives, and foreign. 
  • Assist with maintaining investment data, appropriate systems, reconciliations and works with Investment Accounting, Treasury, Law and other related investment areas.     
  • Help with implementing new initiatives, procedures, and workflows by assisting with system testing, reconciliations, enhancements and other tasks as needed.
  • Assist with preparation of management reports and reconciliations.

Minimum Requirements

  • Enrolled in a college degree program with a Business major and an emphasis in finance, accounting, management or real estate.
  • GPA of 3.0 or better
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook. 
  • Must be self-motivated and organized; also, must be able to work independently, multi-task, establish priorities, and meet tight deadlines. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills and analytical ability
