Analytical or Physical Chemist

A MS in Analytical or Physical Chemistry or related scientific discipline is required. Suitable candidates should demonstrate the application of chemistry expertise to real-world problems through the use of analytical instruments, rigorous mathematical computations, and models. The applicant should be experienced with state-of-the-art optical and mass-based spectroscopic methods, and understand the challenges in sampling and detecting trace analytes. Cross disciplinary experience in the areas of biology, statistics, and the analysis of large data sets is highly desired and experience with chemical, biological and explosives defense is a plus.  The applicant should demonstrate the ability to design and carry out scientific experiments and testing. They must also be able to independently carry out data analysis, and interpret and present results to a broad audience. Strong communications skills and ability to work both independently and in a multi-disciplinary team environment are necessary. Position also requires some participation in conducting field experiments which may require periodic travel.
