2019 MRL Pharmacovigilance Intern

Merck Research Labs is currently recruiting for a summer intern within the Pharmacovigilance department. (1) internship will be available for the summer of 2019. Under the direction of the Pharmacovigilance (PV)Business Liaison Director, the intern will learn about the science ofPharmacovigilance through various methods such as E-learnings, orientations,shadowing experiences, and independent study (e.g., review of health authorityregulations and Company policy). The intern will apply the PV knowledge bydeveloping a series of internal training/resource materials.  This will include assessing FDA and EuropeanMedicines Agency PV regulations, as well as internal policy and procedures, inorder to develop resources intended for training and reference purposes.   Topics of study include, but are not limitedto PV requirements for use in clinical trials, medical devices, social mediaand patient support programs.  Finalresources will be in a user-friendly format such as PowerPoint schematics andprocess flowcharts.  

This is a full- time internship position.Housing subsidy is not available as part of this program and must be funded100% by the student.


  • Required: Candidates must be currently pursuing a minimum of a bachelor's degree in a STEM field, preferably Pharmaceutical Science or Regulatory Science, OR Project Management or IT with a minor in a scientific field
  • Candidates must have completed at least (3) years of undergraduate study.

RequiredExperience and Skills:

  • Candidates must be available to work full-time for up to (12) consecutive weeks beginning in May or June of 2019.
  • Candidates must have technical expertise and excellent working knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Excel, share sites and the ability to use these tools to create resource documents described in job description.
  • Candidates must possess self-motivation and the ability to drive results independently.
  • Candidates must have excellent organizational and problem solving skills.
  • Candidates must have excellent written and communication skills.

PreferredExperience and Skills:

  • Candidates should have an understanding of pharmaceutical business.
  • Candidates should have an understanding of Pharmacovigilance.
  • Candidates should a working knowledge of VISIO.
