The Intraoperative Special Procedure Technician performs intraoperative neurophysiology recordings and preopertive baseline studies under the direction of neuophysiologist; performs Clinical Evoked Potential studies and EMG; supports staff development and quality assurance programs to ensure up to date quality of  patient assessments and high productivity; utilizes new technologies/equipment/procedures to improve patient assessment and care; may also perform routine EEG.




1) Completion of a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) accredited Electroneurodiagnostic (END) Training Program, or an Associate’s Degree or higher from an accredited college or university.


2) At least 1 year of experience in IONM, another area of Electroneurodiagnostic Testing (for example, EEG or Evoked Potentials), or Clinical Neurophysiology research with an attestation of their competence from their supervisor/mentor


Strongly Preferred:

1) Certification in Neurophysiologic Intraoperative Monitoring (CNIM)

2) Alternatively, registry in electroencephalography (R. EEG T.) and/or in evoked potentials (R. EP T.) and/or registry in nerve conduction studies (R. NCS T.)
