Med/Surg RN Job Details

• Location: Lynchburg, VA 24501 (Virginia nursing jobs)
  
• Unit: Diabetic Renal Medical-Surgical Unit (DRMU)
  
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks (Start: 1/12/2026 – End: 4/11/2026)
  
• Employment Type: Travel Nursing
  
• Setting: Teaching Hospital
  
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts
  
• Hours per Week: 48
  
• Weekend Requirement: 2-3 weekends per month (based on unit need)
  
• Orientation: Every other Monday
  
• Float: Not required
  
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1680-$1800
  

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent Medical-Surgical RN experience (prior travel nursing experience required)
  
• Active Virginia or Compact Registered Nurse License (required upon start)
  
• BLS Certification (required)
  
• Complete work history with all gaps over 90 days explained
  
• Skills Checklist and copy of Nursys/license required for submission
  
• Charge nurse experience preferred
  
• Ability to work collaboratively in a teaching hospital, supporting nursing students and new hires
  

Med/Surg RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to patients in the Diabetic Renal Medical-Surgical Unit
  
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to achieve optimal patient outcomes
  
• Mentor and support nursing students and new hires, fostering a positive learning environment
  
• Administer medications, monitor patient progress, and accurately document clinical care
  
• Participate in orientation and ongoing clinical training as required
  
• Work 2-3 weekends per month as scheduled
