Intern - Supply Chain - Spend Management

Purpose

Supply Chain works to deliver sustainable value through efficient delivery of goods and services in support of our projects and operations. This service is performed by a supply chain team located in each of our regions. There is also a Global Category Management team located in the corporate headquarters responsible for contracting requirement of a select goods and services which have been identified as global strategic categories.

Essential Duties

Scope and Responsibilities

The internship will ideally be from Jan 2019 – May 2019. The exact dates are flexible depending on the student’s availability. It is assumed that the internship will be part time (12 to 24 hours/week) during the summer. Interns will receive a stipend.  

 

The work will be designed to execute with little supervision at the Corporate Headquarters located in Greenwood Village, CO, and may include travel to one or more of Newmont’s sites.  There is ample opportunity for internal networking around the company.

 

The intern will be responsible for implementing specific Supply Chain projects during the course of his or her internship, as well as supporting the day-to-day activities of the department. The exact projects will be determined according to the intern’s availability, interest, skills, and experience.

 

Possible projects include:

  • Support the execution of a Strategic Sourcing methodology across all categories and in all regions across the business.
  • Support the delivery and tracking of sourcing and procurement dashboards, KPIs and reporting as well as measuring and tracking supply chain value to the business.
  • Support the identification of sourcing initiatives, perform data analysis to identify opportunities within the sourcing and procurement function and track the execution of those initiatives
  • General support to the Global Strategic Spend manager.
  • Support the execution of a pricing guidance / update in the budget for key categories and market intelligence reporting for the business

Training & Experience

Qualifications:

  • Graduate students preferred, graduating in mid-2019 or later – List of degrees (ie: Master’s in Business Administration, International Trade or equivalent with supply chain specialization). Other similar disciplines will be considered.
  • Women and students with experiences of different and diverse cultures are strongly encouraged to apply
  • Experience in mining and/or passion to learn about the mining industry
  • Organized and good project management skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills & comfort engaging senior leaders and global teams
  • Strong research methods capability and writing skills
  • At least a 3.0 GPA or equivalent

This position takes place at the corporate offices located in Greenwood Village, CO.
