Function Overview

This job function is responsible for the engineering and technical operations of the assembly/finish organization. Activities include designing, constructing, testing, operating, and implementing equipment; ensure that standards of quality, cost, safety, reliability, timeliness, and performance are met in production processes.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the implementation of WPS strategy within the Assembly/Finish Operations at the Marion plant
  • Lead capital projects to improve safety, quality, delivery, and  cost
  • Lead process implementation, process optimization, root cause analysis, and capacity increases
  • Facilitate projects and teach / mentor / train shop floor teams in lean strategies and concepts
  • Provide day to day support to the assembly leadership group including problem-solving, cost estimates, standard costs, labor and process flow / layouts
  • Provide project management of new and existing equipment
  • Work cross-functionally with other teams to drive solutions

 

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in an applicable Engineering field
  • 1+  years of manufacturing experience

 

Preferred Requirements

  • Well-developed communications, project management, coaching, interpersonal and team building skills.     
  • Resourcefulness in accomplishing objectives and completing tasks with minimal supervision yet seeks guidance when appropriate
  • Skills to research and understand the root cause for product and process problems and drive improvement based on analysis
  • Working knowledge of Google Docs, Microsoft Office
  • Ability to create complete sets of working drawings
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes
  • Extensive problem-solving skills
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the use of advanced manufacturing techniques in a Lean Manufacturing environment
  • Extensive mechanical knowledge, as well as design ability
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD
  • 3D Solid Modeling experience a plus
  • Electrical systems and PLC knowledge
  • Exposure to robotic programming and automation
  • Must possess good judgment, planning and analytical skills with the ability to introduce new and different concepts into an existing organization
  • Six Sigma methodology
