Programmer Analyst, Advisory - Toronto, ON

Job Purpose:

The incumbent will be working in a cross functional development team responsible for the bank's critical payment processing system. This is a system that supports the bank's Low and High Value Payments and operations with various internal and external networks. The incumbent is responsible to develop effective and reliable technical solutions for diverse user groups. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in object-oriented programming concepts. The incumbent should have good knowledge of agile and familiar with Software Development Life Cycle, in addition, it is important to have analytical thinking and problem solving skills. Experience in banking payment system and operations support will be an asset.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Analysis, design, development, unit test and support the payment modernization initiative
  • Ensure a timely delivery of quality products/functions which meet end-user requirements
  • Can lead/direct design conversations and develop alternative options
  • Must be able to work within tight deadlines and schedules which may result in extended working hours during peak time to meet project deliverables

Minimum Requirements

  • 5+ years of work experience
  • Strong working experience with IBM FTM, IIB, Message Broker MQ, WTX
  • Familiar with Java development (Java 8 and up, experience with Hibernate, JPA, JUnit, MVC, RDBMS, noSQL, REST API)
  • Other language assets: .NET, eSQL, C++
  • Strong scripting capability, i.e., Unix Shell, Python, Groovy
  • Comfortable working in an Agile environment, and familiar with Agile development practice, i.e., AT, TDD, CI/CD
  • Experience in up-to-date build/integration tools i.e., Maven, Bamboo, Ansible, Artifactory, GitHub, JIRA, Confluence
  • Having a passion for technology, willing to learn new skills and be happy to work as part of a team

Preferred Requirements:

  • University degree in Computer Science / Software Engineering or equivalent
  • Experience in IBM Financial Transaction Manager technology stack 
  • Have experience in payments, financial technologies, banking
  • Worked on migration, strategy, mapping, FSM design
