Base pay: $57,509.52/yr - $86,264.16/yr (estimates)

Job Description

The Office for Children with Special Health Care Needs (OCSHCN) is seeking an Audiologist II in either Morehead or Prestonsburg to provide comprehensive audiologic services for children and youth with special health care needs. The role includes diagnostic and case management, device‑related services, collaboration with regional hospitals and families, counseling, program development, and staff coordination.

Responsibilities

  • Member of multidisciplinary treatment team; provide diagnostic and case management of audiologic services to clinic and non-clinic patients.
  • Services related to hearing devices: evaluations, fittings, repairs, modifications, and routine monitoring; oversee annual calibration of audiological equipment.
  • Partner with regional birthing hospitals, families, and community audiologists to ensure infants are screened for hearing loss and receive warranted follow-up services.
  • Counsel patients and families on available resources; facilitate transition from pediatric to adult care.
  • Plan, organize, and develop educational programs for families and other professionals or staff.
  • Coordinate audiometric work of nonprofessional or professional subordinate staff, including nurses, hospital and school personnel, graduate students, early interventionists, and others.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills and Expectations

  • Highly self‑motivated with the ability to work under pressure.
  • Demonstrates flexibility and critical thinking.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, time management and organizational skills.
  • Experience with cochlear implants and other implantable devices is a plus.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Records management.
  • Travel throughout the region as needed.

Minimum Requirements

Education: Doctorate in Audiology from a college or university accredited by the Council for Academic Accreditation of the American Speech‑Language Hearing Association.

Experience, training, or skills: NONE

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: A Master’s degree from a program accredited by the Council for Academic Accreditation of the American Speech‑Language Hearing Association conferred before January 1, 2007 will substitute for the Doctorate in Audiology.

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: NONE

Special requirements (age, licensure, regulation, etc.): Must possess an audiology license or be eligible for licensure from the Kentucky Board of Speech‑Language Pathology and Audiology. License must be active by start of employment. Must be certified or eligible for certification by the American Speech‑Language Hearing Association. Certification must be active by the end of the probationary period. Must maintain required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment.
